According to this, Placo charges the Aircraft Spruce list price, but has cheaper shipping:

On a previous occasion they quoted me over R300 for a set. I bought them on Spuce for $10, plus shipping landed here for R130

I need to get a pair for my new plane. I'll give them a call quickly

Pleasant surprise. I called Placo and they have stock and they are R108 plus VAT for a pair.

Wow - that is cheaper than Spruce, even without shipping! I hope this is valid for all their products, because I will need to order a whole bunch of bits-and-pieces soon.

Baie dankie mense, dit is wonderlik om hierdie forum te kan gebruik en al julle hulp te kry. Net om seker te maak will ek graag weet of dit dan nou Placo in JHB is en wat se "size" is die waarop jy "gequote" is. Wat is die beste manier om die goete te instaleer.

Part number 05-01179, 3.25". When I phoned back they quoted me a slightly higher price, R140 I think ex VAT. Said the R108 was their cost. Still worth it

Very easy to install, but just be carefull. Buy a 80mm circular cutting blade that you attach to a drill. The finer the cutting teeth the better It has a centre drill bit that makes a pilot hole. Then cover the area to be cut on the window with masking tape. Carefully drill the centre pilot hole and then the larger hole. Be careful, lexan scratches very easily. Then take the vent, Squeeze the sides where the spring is attached and pop the back through the hole. literally a 5 minutes job

I personally prefer this make of hole saw. Those with the segmented rings oftena are not quite that good.

I have two sets of vents for my project. The 3.5" rimmed vent and the 2" blister type. Not sure which I want to use yet. Going with the 2" blister type so far as I'll be flying solo pretty much all the time and don't need that much airflow once in flight. Canopy locked open while taxiing for a bit of a breeze. Any thoughts?
