Contaminated fuel

Postby Cali » Tue Aug 05, 2008 5:24 am

Never worry about contaminated fuel again. I bought myself one of these and they are great. I did not realize how good they were until I tested it myself.
I was a bit concerned about flying on my own here in Mullewa, as there is no one around who knows Rotax motors , or trikes for that matter. I like to do a very thorough pre and post flight inspection on my trike, but I was always afraid of the fuel system letting me down. I feel a lot better now that I bought myself a Mr Funnel. They let NOTHING but fuel through. You can order them from me...... No just kidding. I don't know where you will get them in RSA but they are on e-bay for about $40.
Have a look at their (slightly retarded) ad on youtube. Or visit their site at www.mrfunnel.com and have a look for yourself.

I can not see myself going without one of these again.

I agree Cali !

Learjet had one on our Transkei trip and we put ALL our fuel through it. You will be AMAZED at how much water was often visible after straining through Mr Funnel! I want one!

The closest dealer I can find on their website is the UK. However I run a Import Export Clearing & Forwarding company and if enough people show an interest I would look at bringing in some in bulk.

I imported a few of the Mr-Funnel fuel filters (F8 - 5 gallon per mintue flow size ) last year and the landed cost was about US $42 each plus approx R100 each for customs duty etc.
It works brilliantly and is a must-have!

Note: For some reasons our tests found that it DOES NOT work with premixed fuel (i.e 2-stroke oils etc). Also make sure that you order the black plastic anti-static 'conductive" version.

The companyI dealt with is called Fourwinds Enterprises http://www.fourwinds-ii.com

Hi, Response is good so far. I will let this topic run another couple of days and then I will PM all the respondants. I know a lot of the guys at our airfield will probably be interested. The more we bring in the cheaper it will be on freight charges.

On their website it does say that the filter does not work for premixed fuels but at least you will be happy knowing that you are adding your oil to clean fuel. JUst make sure your containers are see through and spotless.

Thanks guys/girls
