I have gone on record before & still maintain my feelings about microlights. I own a share in a beautiful twin, 175 ktas in the cruise & it can get me from a to b very fast. Circumstances precluded me from flying with the Rietfontein gang in the garden furniture yesterday & we have been trying to do this for a while. I want a microlight as soon as I have spare cash for another aerie. The fun factor in microlights is far bigger. The twin is for commuting fast & garden furniture is for having fun. Is it not remarkable that I hanker to own my own garden furniture as soon as I can afford to buy one.

I was at TAC last night with a bunch of pilots & owners & we were labelled as people who think they are superior, I disagree, but took solace in the fact that I can fly & that I will own a trike in the near future. The "them & us "scenario irritates me hugely.

I enjoy humility & respect jointly between all fraternities, who made you god because you have a ppl, I just want to have fun & enjoy different aircraft for different roles.

I am going to mosey on down to Panorama next Friday afternoon, I have heard that the guys have huge fun & enjoy camaraderie second to none. I will be the uninvited guest but I can guarantee that I will be made to feel welcome. I do not know a soul there & the difference is that the guys who fly rattling, falling apart garden furniture as has been claimed are a closer knit group who have more fun than the sector who think they are superior with their fancy aircraft.

Hi RV,

I suppose the trick in life is to avoid the people that annoy us. I try to do so, but unfortunately I have to interact and so I just tend to ignore outrageous and ill informed statements.

Not always easy to do.

Kind regards,

Gunter Rostek.

You are right Gunter, but sometimes it is very difficult to not rise to the bait. I had a huge spat a couple of years back when some guys made statements on avcom basically about me needing to be careful because they would screw my wife. I was as mad as a snake. I would not get upset if someone has a go at me for my piloting skills, or the aircraft I choose to own & fly, I know the aviation industry very well & have been flying for 21 years. I dont care how many hours I have got, all I care about is having fun & microlights blow my hair back, thank you. vhpy vhpy vhpy
