I got the exact same one. Works like a charm

Re: 912 95 HP
Thanks LM, looks good !
As I have just acquired a plane with a 912 (80HP) this is very relevant

Does the conversion not run "hotter". I recall a discussion about this on one of the threads....

Re: 912 95 HP
Fit larger Radiator to solve extra heat issues?
Larger radiator will have more surface area and will also have more coolant in system so will be slightly heavier.
Kind regards,
Gunter Rostek.

Re: 912 95 HP
CHT were higher if I am not mistaken - resultant of higher compression?

Re: 912 95 HP
The modified motor that I flew with had an increased oil consumption. Was a bit annoying.

Re: 912 95 HP
After the conversion the motor tends to use a bit of oil but nothing to worry about. Still don`t need to fly a container of oil with you. As for the temp it can run a little hotter but only a few deg. Adjusting the prop pitch will ensure lower rev`s in straight and level flight = lower fuel consumption and brings the temp back down! No need to enlarge the radiator! Works like a charm!!!

Re: 912 95 HP
The 912 Xtra is supposed to use oil. There are small ports in the piston to allow for small amount
of oil to seep through to improve lubrication. A great engine: I am currently flying one and it has
done 500 trouble free hours. Only snag: Use only 95 oct as it is high compression.

Re: 912 95 HP
Is this a good idea on a trike??
Does it help a huge amount?? Because there is no point spending R7000.00 on something that will increase consumption and so on!

Re: 912 95 HP
The trike I trained on had the 95 hp conversion. My trike (Aquilla) has the straight 80 hp 912 motor. Initially I considered doing the mod, however I do not see the need for it. Would definately not part with R 7000 for the mod. I like the lower compression of the 80 hp motor. Less chance of detonation should you get dodgy fuel in the sticks.Trikenut wrote:Is this a good idea on a trike??![]()

Trike works well on the highveld on summer afternoon with two up, and full tanks. I could imagine if you have a smaller wing than the aquilla wing, more power would be nice. I would then rather see if i can lay my hands on a 912S.

Re: 912 95 HP
Thanks Arnulf,
You can use R7000 so much better. I agree with the explosion part as well!
It probably doesn't help the engine with the high compression and the african fuel!
