I am trying again - somehow lost my previous attempt so sorry if this appears twice! I thought Nelis teachning my to fly was an achievement, only to be bettered by you guys helping me to post pictures on the web!

Thanks for the kind words Len - great to be flying cyberspace with you guys as there has been some really intersting chats, but better still, hoping to share some sky with you soon. I am heading your way next week for a couple of days and hope you are there?

Here is the Bensen (pre-digital days) and I regret the day I sold her - still the best handling machine I have flown. And yes, that is a hand-slinging Mac-attack on the back!

RAF to follow!

Gyro: MT03
Reg: ZU-WLL
Hours: 160 (Gyro)
Hi Guys
After years of going places in a fixed wing, i decided it was time for seeing places.
My research for the perfect recreational plane led me to the Gyro.
The next step was to decide on which make and model. I eventually narrowed my choice down to 2 possibilities, ELA or MT03.
I didnt consider the Magni purely because of the extra 100 Grand Price Tag.
I took delivery of my beautiful red MT on 6 Sept 2007and obtained my GPL on 20 Sept 2007, with 94 Aero Squadron Springs.
My first real sightseeing experience was with Roelf Palm on a 8 day Namibia trip, Breathtaking !
I then went on a Mozambique trip for 5 days with good ground support and can only say that the Gyro is a wonderful and complete experience of "Joy ". This little Machine is great to fly and can handle most of what the weather unexpectedly throws at you.
I enjoyed flying my Gyro so much that by 12 Nov 2007 my Hobbs was standing on 100 hours, it had basically taken me 2 months to do this, so if you are still wondering if a Gyro is enjoyable to fly,? I rest my case.
Enjoy and be Safe.

LOCATION: Empangeni
AIRCRAFT: MT-03 AUTOGYRO
HOURS : 560

Hi Guys
Have been following the forum for many years and have decided that it is about time that I join. I flew a microlight for many years followed by a RAF 2000 Gyro. I now fly a MT-O3 Gyro which I enjoy immensely. I am the only Gyro pilot north of Durban and in Zululand and one of a few that fly in KZN. The highlight of my flying is a trip that I undertook in April of this year with eleven gyros through Botswana and Namibia. The Chobe park, Okovango Delta and Etosha was incredible. We skirted Zim / Zambia, the Caprivi strip and Angola. We flew the Kunene River along Angola to join the west coast of Namibia. We flew the Namibian coast, numerous parts of the desert and the Fish River canyon. It was absolutely mind blowing. The trip took two weeks so the hours spent flying were intense, yet most enjoyable. Can't wait to do the next "Africa" trip. If any Gyro's venture up into my part of the world, give me a call.
Regards

Hi Claude,
I haven't given it much thought. Been too busy flying.
(Clocked alsmost 30 hours in my first month after getting my licence) =D*

Also still on a serious weight-loss regime so with no (^^) , I'll probably miss half the fun at Numbi.

Hi Guys

Location: Morningstar - Cape Town
Gyro: Magni M16
Registration: ZU-DIO
Hours: 490 on type (no other flying experience)

I first saw an Autogyro in 1976 when I toured the CSIR with a school group and they were testing the SARA 11. Ever since then I have been interested in the aircraft and decided in 2003 to do something about it. After some research I ordered an M16 which arrived in February 2004.

I like like to tour the country rather than fly around the cabbage patch and have flown up to the Okavango, across to the Skeleton Coast and back down to Cape Town. I am slowly covering the South African coastline and have now flown over all of it from Hondeklipbaai to Port St. Johns. Would like to fill in the gaps soon.
