Who's your ISP? can you browse http://www.pimpano.co.za ?

I have brought a test site online on a server in Cape Town - battling to get the 150MB database across there.

How is connectivity to www.microflying.co.za ? The boards are empty there at present.

UPDATE!

I managed to restore the database to my server in Cape Town!

Currently getting all the attachments off the live site so please bear with me - you will notice not all pics are showing here while I jigga jigga to get all 300MB off - I currently have 100MB worth on the server in Cape Town.

http://www.microflying.co.za is the server in Cape Town

Not practical to host at my house with loadshedding and the manual generator startup ;)

Sigh - Avatars work fine on the server at my house but not on the microflying server...

Will battle further tomorrow!

AVCOM also had problem with AVATARS.... I had to upload new AVATAR and I think there are still a whole lot of guys that have not updated theirs!

I logged on to the new site just now and got a text based board. Then went to one of the topics and all was fine?

Will it be possible to open up for a window period for us to edit our alias's?

eg. My alias is in capital letters and that is so called shouting on the web. Would like to change it so that it looks like Avcom's one?

There was a window period on Avcom to have done this.... just a thought!

That will not really be a problem - Best idead now is for everyone to start saving their avatars ;)

W also need to make a concerted effort to test the speed of the current temporary server by making a time for everyone to log in at the same time and really give it a bash by uploading pics and eating bandwidth.

It has proven easier to restore a version 3 site than the current version 2 site.

When can we all get together to hammer the new site?

I see you changed your name Bad Nav ;)

We now have 138MB of the 300MB worth of pics across to the test server, another backup will be taken tonight and restored to the test box. Pray this time I get the avatar's across - that, the attachments and the load testing are the only holdup!

I will make a poll for when is the best time for everyone to log in to do load testing...

Eish,

Today is first time I can get in to site in 2 days.

Takes a long time to open pages.

Get "Can't display that page due to connection problems" message.

If I then hit back button then page I wanted to open displays.

Ran a connectivity test and it seems as if it is a time out problem.

Here my internet connection is fast , 100mbs, so possibly problem on other side.

Kind regards,

Gunter Rostek
