Hi Everyone
I rebuilt my Bing carb on my 462. I replaced all the jets needle o rings ect. I also did the rotax replacement of the spring cup. My needle clip was above the spring clip when i opened the carb so i moved it to below as per the rotax info as well as installing the new o ring. Now when i tested it with the needle clip on the secound groove from the top the motor spluttered a bit before reaching a higher RPM if the throttle was opened fast.I then mooved the clip to the third groove from the top.Now it accelerates better but only reached 5000 RPM and not 5800 RPM like before i opened the carb.Is the full throtle controlled by the main jet and not the needle? The motor seems to run at a slightly higher temp as well now.Does anyone have any idea what i have done wrong?I dont have a EGT gauge yet.
Regards
Sacha

Previously, with the clip being incorrectly installed above the spring cup, the needle would have been set to provide a very rich mixture. It is possible that smaller main jets were installed to compensate for this
Now you have correctly installed the needle, effectively moving it down, you have naturally leaned the mixture out. Additionally by moving the clip up a notch you have leaned it out even more. Now the engine is running hot.
I would suggest you look at the main jet size. Unfortunately I cannot find a jetting chart for the 462, but here is one that covers all the others. Try a larger main jet and return the clip back to the original position

I am emailing you a document on setting these carbs up as well

We can do our own work here in the UK.After any big changes or work i get the instructor to give it a test flight after i have done a good ground run.
The UK, which is a 1st world country, treats its citizens as such! We in South Effrika, on the other hand, have to over compensate for the turmoil in the rest of Africa - set the example!
