Yip did get a reply. I will go for a RAF if i am happy it is safe in all of it's advertised flight envelope I like it's looks and hope it will work out?? Time will tell. So far i am not doing to well as all the aircraft i have sighted in on have been sold

We at RAF SA will not get into a mudslinging about saftey regarding our Gyro plane. I do not have time for this anymore. All we have to hear all the time is how unsafe our gyro is and how it is going to kill people. I have 700+ hour in the RAF and I am only 27 my father has 2500 plus and he is 57. There are pilots that has more than 7000 hours on a standard RAF gyro plane. SO for any of those who think the RAF is so dangerous, please come and visit me and my dad and come and see for yourself.

I can only come to the conclusion that people who criticizes the safety and stability of the RAF is very ill informed and do not bare any knowledge what so ever of the RAF and has never flown in one.

But then as they say the best man always sits on the side.........

I’m a trike pilot and even in our ranks there is always some degree “mine is better than yours”.
Why so much bitterness and criticism, you can see from Ebens commentary that to avoid further criticism he is avoiding a subject worth some good debate.
Give the chap some space !
We South Africans have become intensely worried about what we don’t have and seem to worry less about what we do have in day to day life. It’s making us a miserable bunch!!!!!!

OK HERE GOES It seems after my "research" on the RAF2000 that the negative/unsafe remarks etc. are purely political I have my beady eyes on a RAF2000 and will hoepfully be able to buy one. I will be "test flying" a local one here some-time this week. If i like it i will do my utmost to buy one So therefore for someone who has been in 2 aircraft accidents and survived i am more than happy that the RAF2000 IS SAFE to fly within its designed flight envelope :D :D

I will come back with an update once i have "flown" one :D

I will go one step further too... if my information is correct then as far as I am concerned the RAF is now a South African product that we can and should be proud of. I am satisfied that, in the right hands, the RAF is a perfectly good machine and good value for money so it gets my support because I do believe adequate and correct training can and will prevent any of the 'percieved' tendencies/situations which the RAF stands accused of.

I intend doing a few hours of dual training with Nick in Gansbaai and would like to have the RAF on my licence also.

Good luck the the Mockes and all the happy RAF owners out there. Hope there are many more to come!

Why cant we enjoy the company of each other, rather fight it out on the forum.

I trained in an old Magni 16 as well as Ela 07. Each type is different and you have to learn to fly that type.

My first flight in my M22 was a good experience, but I had to get used to this type.

I have spoken to a RAF pilot at Witbank. He said that it took time to perfect his take-off and landings as the RAF is different. Never did he say bad, but different.

Must say the big attractive difference id the price.

We need more Gyro's, more instructors and most of all; MORE ONE NIGHT SLEEPOVER WEEKENDS. We all fly at the same speed, so we can all fly together.

Empty weight of RAF 2000 with 2,5 lt motor is 395kg with 18lt fuel in tank. Fuel consumption doing training(touch + go) 22lt/hr Cruise uses 18lt/hr

Hi Horned Adder.

I feel like a kid about to find his candy. I started a heli PPL last year and came to the conclusion that even if I got my license, I wouldn't be able to afford one, so gave up after 8hrs of training in an R22 Gyros! Looked into the options and contacted Eben Jnr. Went for a ride with Nick Loubser in Gansbaai and was hooked! :D It has so many heli-type characteristics, including the side by side configuration I like, and we even hovered (albeit while losing altitude slowly, of course). Very similar cyclic characteristics to a R22 in my view, and muuuuuuuuch cheaper. Have done 5 hours with Nick now and I am going to Upington next week to do my training on my new gyro (photo attached). I hope you are able/willing to make a commitment.

I am almost certain they are still using up the remaining Canadian stock, but believe that the factory is almost complete
