Refraction?

Last evening as viewed from KROON, only one blue line, seems to be originating as a result of factury stack flame on horison.

Looks like a shadow caused by distant obstruction like a tower or a peak. This must have been seconds before the sun finally set

Morph, I think you are spot-on, the factory stack chugged a plume of smoke into the surrounds and that must have caused the shading effect, shortlived, as you said.

First time I saw it that brilliantly defined.

Stunning picture Bacardi! The vehicle and the hangar give it great perspective. Submit it to National Geographic or Veldvocus or something like that, you might win another 4x4.

I saw two of those in madikwe a few months back. No factories or stacks around there so bang goes that theory, but i would be very interested to know what the hell they were.
