Yip - I got one against my TV room wall at home, the missus was upset as it does not go with her Delft plate collection

Jeppeson map - I got it when doing ground school - You should be able to source easily. Shows Special rules East, West, + beyond - Pretty much greater Pretoria and Jhb up to Brits North and up to your neck of the woods South

I now want a map showing the areas more North i.e. Pilanesburg, Mabalingwe etc as that is where I am doing most of my flying lately

This one is available from the Govt printer. 1:250K for PWV. It a 18Meg file when not compressed or you can get it in printed format for around R25 I think? Some of the Freq are out of Date, but I change mine by hand and it has space for notes... Small pic of the East near Baps showing Microland, Baps, Fly Inn and Petit. No Seria Romeo though...

Can buy a copy from Dept of surveying in CT.
http://w3sli.wcape.gov.za/surveys/mappi ... m#aero-PWV
http://w3sli.wcape.gov.za/surveys/mappi ... GITAL-data
They will post it to you on CD/DVD. I got all the 1:500 and 1:1000, the PWV and CT 1:250 aviation maps as well as the whole souther africa topo 1:250's for R200 I think. They charge only for the CD's and postage I think.

On 3G it take forever. Don't know if there copyright, else I make you a copy.
Cheers
G

3.25Gig's.

I also have the whole country on 1:50,000, but that 6 DVD's... Works well with Oziexplorer. www.oziexplorer.co.za (it like easyplan, but with real scale maps). Needs big memory, put the PDA version is cool.

Thanks so far,

Still looking for a paper map showing more detailed strips / circuit boundaries around the greater JHB / PTA.

Don't seem to find an improvement on the generic bland Garmap CD, given with the new Garmin 96C.( only Streetmaps for R2 500.00 -who cares  )

If I press"Nearest", it only gives registered FA-- strips, which in my part are Power stations / mines e.t.c.

I've entered waypoints, rename and enter strip details e.t.c., but having a map CD showing microlight strips colour highlighted, with strip details, frequencies highlighted as you 'roam' through their space whilst on the P.C e.t.c. would be cool for flight planning.

Once sent to the unit, the roving map could forewarn you ( as per the class C airspaces e.t.c.) just before flying through and give the required info.

I can be seriously doff and this might already be available.

When all else fails, read the manual, ask the forum or take eternal abuse from my 12yr old as he sorts it out.
