Helmet's

My helmet has never really fitted me properly with me having to move it on my head constantly. This weekend I noticed that the chin-strap that holds the helmet on my head is starting to wear

Time for a new helmet - I have been flying without a visor untill now, not against visors at all, just haven't been flying with one - Visor might be a problem taking photo's with SLR camera

Anyone out there use the new fullface? Your thoughts?

Fullface deffenite plus.
Helmet is a good idee ,take a while to get use to but the + outnumber the - . Safety
Mine is Buzzcom helmet - comfi and good quality,no problems. Aviation Eng sells the lynx helmet , bit smaller on outer and not so heavy. Also got a neck wrap helps for that wind blowing from underneeth.
Visors tinted and clear.
Both products same to me.
Price +- same.

Flipping your visor open in flight ,not a good idee.

So the headset is built into the helmet on the fullface? Do you find that the sound is just as good? Still have volume contol etc? Still block out engine noise?

we are making our new range in carbon fibre as well as a new full face unit with in built cups, snowmobile technology from the states. Will post pics when complete as we use the Sears range of visors. Our first carbon fibres will be available next week and weigh (shell 220 grams).

Yip and end up with a lynx wannabe. I've got two. Sizes are hopeless and straps on it's tightest as too large unless you wear a couple beenies...

Still they work and are cheap.

Unfortunately I have to echo Diesel's sentments on the local Lynx - Mine also does not fit properly and my strap is now completely worn-out after 2 years. - Suppose not too bad considering I paid R600

I have now kinda became used to flying without one which is not a good thing

I bought 2 helmets about 2 years ago and haven't had any trouble yet. Still fits perfectly like the first time. But must admit I don't use a helmet in summer (like the wind in my hair) winter is just to damn cold
For me it is still good value for money. I tried the full face thing but felt to restricted even in winter but then again it is just me I even use a openface on my Harley in winter

I attach a picture of a retro fit we are doing for the UK Lynx headsets to our helmets. As Lynx wearers know the batteries are in the headband and are heavy after a few hours. We remove them completely and install a replacement pack in the helmet lining. This does not interfere with the performance of the headset just removes a heap of weight and prevents the band on the top of the head.

The GRP shells weigh 235 grams and the CF shells weigh 90 grams. They are vacuum resin applied.

Main problems with ordinary headsets is that there is no clearance for the strap, a tip for existing owners is to remove the polystyrene where the strap touches the liner. The UK Lynx has this in it.

We are making this same helmet to Class 2a for security armed response wearers also..
