ZU DSR is going for 20 hours since the motor has been redone.
I must admit that I was forced to catch up on some tips and secrets on these VW motors.
For example: You will never believe how munch problems you can encounter if you do not have the correct prop and reduction drive fitted.
I just swapped the prop last week from a 72/50 to a 72/52 and revs came down on the cruise by between 400 rpm to 600 rpm and with full throttle it came down from 4500 rpm to 3800 rpm. This in turn meant that my motor is not working itself to the bone = less sump compression and no more oil spilling. Also lighter on fuel, also 15 mph faster and is now cruising at 80% power between 90 and 95 mph.
Also were the stick was pulling to the front all the time, it is now back to a hands off neutral flying position for strait and level and even the flapperons is now been used in the manner it was created for.
Slowly but surely all the teething problems gets to be sorted and you guys can be soooooooo sorry you did not bought it when she was up for sale.
My landings is also coming on quite well now and I did about 8 hours towards my BB Conversion now.
