Were there Geese flying near Panorama on Saturday

Postby RV Sometime » Wed May 09, 2007 6:06 pm

I had the opportunity to watch a whole gaggle of trike pilots fly underneath me (I wished I was one of them at that time) in the vicinity of Panorama, slightly west, about 5nm, they were not on 125.8, probably on 124.8, being low level. I did not bother to check cos I had to monitor both 125.8 & 118.7.

It was a beautiful sight, here I am burning 14 gph & you guys were burning that in total. I was not having fun, steep turn & in the hold & on every orbit watching you below doing what you love & when I had my head outside the cockpit, very good formo.

I hope you are members of this forum & can give input about that flight, I watched it with envy for 20 mins, starting to sweat & consider landing at Panorama cos I had done a 720 nm xc that day & was eating into my reserves.

Herewith my post on avcom, I am closer & closer to having real fun.

Hey Zoo, that is quite a lekker x country flight, but not too long in the 450 I think. Don't take mrs flush seriously, he obviously did not have his chill pill yet. We normally duct tape his mouth shut & leave him in his strait jacket. His only use is to recover stolen cameras. Relax boet. How long did you fly for & what kind of level. I flew the box & JasonF down to Margate on sat morning & we retrieved the sad leaking yak & flew back on sat afternoon.

There was a gaggle of microlights having huge fun below me whilst I was orbiting above RD for clearance into rand, up to eight microlights, about 5nm west of panorama, any of the guys you know. I sat up at 7000 with DAM underneath me at 6500 & CFT incoming. I get jealous when I see the grace of the trikes, they were in close formation & at one stage they looked like migrating geese. I was solo & busy in the cockpit but would have loved to take a photie, had I not had my hands full. I will put this on the ml forum & would love to hear about those guys having absolute fun.

I did not hear them cos I was on 125.8 & 118.7, they would have been on 124.8 or 123.45 or both
