So this I how it al started , just some back ground.
I come from a flying family and I was told from nappy days that microlights are kak!
and then I was ready to start flying and asked my dad how we were going to do this and at the time he had a J3-cub ( second oldest one in RSA & a B-55 and a vansin one of a kind in the world) so I wasn't ready to bend any of them. Spoke to a good friend of me and my dad and he said I must fly trike!
THATS REALY FLYING so he put me in a trike and that was the start of it .
so having the wonderfull dad I have he gave me a Aerotrike kits for my 21 birthday and said you want to fly you build it!
so the flying started my dad saw the fun I was having and he got himself one and now we have three trike, one spare wing for the holiday house and the Baron and the Vansin, not more Cub.

So now I was flying the wonderful thing call a trike and as we all now the thing that makes a trike what it is the wing (dog or not) and I had a sweetie a cosmos Top 14.9 it was a dream very happy and I had lots of fun. Then two friends of ours here in the cape got them self's DTA with 912s rotax motors and for the first time NO PROFILE TUBE and you would think it doesn't make such a difference but it does and the wing was a stronger copy of the Cosmos and it was a “bedonerd” so getting back into the aerotrike with the 582 that creeks and squeaks was hard but the bank made it a lot easier. My dad on the other hand didn’t have the same banks as I did so he ordered one, BUT we wanted to try the BMW motor so a lot of time was spent surfing the net to find other people that has do it and we found Take-Off they made a gearbox for the BMW R engines (the R is for the Boxer engine for those who doesn’t love the BM’s like I do) and we heard about a R1100S engine in Nelspruit good luck that at that time we were on our way to Mozambique so we stopped for a look. The bike as in a big smash but we wanted some thing to play with and it was only R8000. So after a lot of rebuilding we had a running engine ready for the trike.

what must we do with this engine

Postby vliegvark » Sun Apr 29, 2007 12:05 pm

We made some changes on the engine the first was the second sparkplug (this was the first of many but the power plant was a good one and had +/- 90hp for just a touch heavier than a 912. so what we had was a 90hp twin spark single fuel injection and one computer box and she was sweet. So to stick it on to the trike we had to make a engine mount spoke to some people and found a miracle man (Gerri the welder) and o-man he can weld (my head started working out a plan right about now) welded the engine mount It was the first one of three because we wanted to stop the yaw the trike, so the first one was all wrong the second one was better, we moved the engine closer to the frame and played some more with the angle and then we went for a trip up the west coast and met up with a friend from aerotrike stole some ideas from him and his cobra and bang the third was the one . Its more the of set than the angle on the trike (that’s the reason the Cobra it such a good trike, it’s always the small things). So the engine and the mount is working fine stuck a Aeros Profi wing on and it ‘s a Honey to fly, but and this is a big BUT I didn’t have one and all my friend were flying four strokes using less fuel and going faster time to put my plan into action……….
