Took off through the fog after waiting for 2 hours for a hole. Not a "wholesome" experience - broke through at about 700feet and saw that the fog blanket extended to the east as far as we could see, the coast was clear. So CDG and myself flew to Saldanha, a bit of really low flying going there, but on the way back only calmed down at above 3000ft.

Off to Morningstar to see if any other microlighters are planning some flying on a wonderful, dry, smooth morning. No-one else around, but my hangar landlord introduced me to Andrea, a friend from Switzerland who was keen for a flip. Took him to the beach for some low flying, then over some clouds at 1500ft all the way up to a chilling 4500feet before doing some landings.
A great days flying, see the log at http://www.zu-dve.com

- Those clouds over the N7 is at around 1500 feet, we climbed to 4500ft where the temp was 7 Celcius. In the right upper corner is the sanddunes in the D200 close to Bokpunt.

I had to convince Francois that the rattling of his blinds (he lives at the coast) is probably caused by a ghost - he did not believe me but at the field it was all calm and quiet. So before he pitched I did a couple of T&Gs before we went off to Wintervogel, where Peter (I met him almost 2 years ago in Greyton and took him for a flip then) is now almost soloing with Trygve. Then off to Riebeeck Kasteel where it is a Olive Festival this weekend & we wanted to find a strip close to town. At last we found a two-track strip (I think we should start grading these, this will be a C but doable) about 2km from town. Before this we landed on what turned out to be a plowed and sown part of a cornfield (the farmer said he would not send us the bill for thetwo sack of corn he will now not be able to harvest). Then we flew back via the Agricultural School at Paarl, doing a T&G or two on the way there. After taking off from the Agricultural School I dedided that I will climb, and once at 1500ft will glide to a suitable forced landing spot, climb again etc. Did 8 of these, with 4 actual touch downs. Getting prepared for an engine out?
A great days winter flying - cold & calm.

1 hour and 40 minutes of lovely flying, no make it 1 hour and 39 minutes, since the last minute was a typical Morningstar landing in an easterly. I did a landing on 02 and those hangars really gave me some rotors to cope with - see the groundspeed on base (my airspeed is 56).
Great nevertheless.
