As I get to only fly when students or flips are not, I managed about 2.5 hours total over the weekend, at 10-30min bursts.

General coastal stuff, trying to teach someone how to fly loose formation by briefing him before the flight, and then shouting "BKR - numbers" over the radio at least 3 times, while I know there are at least 9 other aircraft in the vacinity, and he wants to stay in my blind-spot  300' above me while I called we are only at 300'  and trying to tell me on special rules frequency in between GFA traffic in and outbound in tight airspace "what a nice day for flying - look at the dolphins, turtles, coming up on your 9 O'clock high "etc.

But at least the air was smooth, and the viz good. Even at midday, hardly a bump! Thats coastal flying for you :D :D

Just missed your visit to the airfield as well, sorry. Did at least 3 petrol runs over the weekend, and as I arived from one, you were taking off.

You are one of the few social pilots who do fly in all kinds of stuff  , and I think yesterday was probably the first good-weather day I saw you fly in =D*

Yesterday, was really really kind in comparison. For those that don't know, the "Big Trees", hangars, and sh!t wind direction always gang up on BWX. See you soon there.

Flew my test flight on Friday afternoon to satisfy CAA medical. Passed with flying colours 8) so now its just paperwork...
Spent Saturday morning dodging blik aeries using runways 04-22, 17 and 35 all at the same time at FAWI :D :D . All airfields seem to have similar problems.
Did about a 20 minute flight around the patch last night. A little bumpy in places but not too bad. 8) 8) 8)

I'm too scared to say it. I have been hoping for so long. But (dare I whisper) this weekend could be good (just hold thumbs for the weather). Have to do the trip to Johannesburg CAA for a student licence first (probably Thursday).

Just landed from a 45min coastal flight. Steady 10 knots on the ground, but the pre-frontal berg wind ruined it a bit along the coast :( It must be at least 30 degrees at 1000' :!:

The up side is that FAVG let me fly all the way to blue lagoon, which puts us straight under their circuit. With 3 aircraft training it was wonderfull to watch them repeatedly turn base or cross just 200' above us. That controller was also so calm and efficient, he had 3 helicopters, 2 inbound, and one IF departure, with us and 3 guys in the circuit.

The other up side was that we saw a LOT of dolfins, a couple of rays, a couple of turtles and a few sharks all on one fligh :D :D :D

Monday's are my fundays

Hey you pen pusher office fellows...........

Ha! Ha! Who ever coined the caption to this page "What did you fly this weekend?"

Nah Nah nah nah nah....I get to fly every day, cause I get paid for it.

So, what did I fly today.

Got to do 3 hours of training on my trike. First was solo check out then standing on the runway for 50 mins chatting to my student. Then 1 hour of standard circuits in about 8 kts of x-wind for a student, then the lousy part - 2 hour air law lecture. What thend? Oh yea! The Durban Skydive dude's(operate from my airfield) needed a pilot for a Tandem from FL95. So that was my next flight, winding the ol' C-182 up and screwing her down in a spiral at 140kts, keeping EGT's and CHT's up to prevent rapid cooling. Keeps you busy. What then. O.K. then it was another student for 1 hr 20 min of low level(10feetAGL) down the runway in 8 kts of cross-wind. And the circuits were flown as tight precautionary circuits (250AGL. Winding it. Lekka! ) Student had skew eyes at end of lesson.

Oh! I nearly forgot. In between all this I did another 2 1/2 hours of flips (oops. Lesson 3 air experience flights) for tourists. Saw dolphins jumping out the back of waves, saw whales with calf, saw naked girls at Umhlanga Lagoon - yeah!).

And lastly, at sunset, did a test flight for an Annual Inspection I am doing on a windlass. Aborted take-off. Fuel starvation.

.........Another typical day at La Mercy FLight Park...........

Cheers pen pushers.....
