Didn't fly at all :(

Not due to bad weather but due to my poor instructor who has a chest infection and is on medication! Hope he gets better soon as I am getting withdrawls again.

Do the radio course this week so that should keep my mind occupied.

Flew to Brits on Saturday :D , great day.
Glenn Dell flew with a broken ankle and was in the lead after day one
As I passed Harties I listened to all the traffic in that area I'm sure CAA should allocate a freq dedicated to "Traffic in the Hartbeespoort dam area"
No it does not glide- it FLIES

Did a couple of hours late Sunday afternoon, had a couple of people to take for a few circuits.
Hooked up with Jose and went from Klipriver over to Circus. Landing at Circus was interesting - a kid on a bicycle riding down the runway and his friend observing from the edge. Could not believe it
We then went out to the Suikerbos area for a sundowner cruise and also tried to spot the Suikerbos field. Anyone know what is happening there ??
Altogether a fine afternoons flying..

What did you fly this weekend
Why not today :?:

0.8h with steady 20-25knots crosswind landings, very nice practice, for which we have seldom practice oppertunity in Pretoria :D :D :D :D

But that is exactly what I enjoyed today, a bit a work out

Nice, on a approx. 6-8m strip, being offset on short finals by 10m, bring it back, and make a short field landing (250m in the Jabi) 8)
Nothing hairy only a good work out, for situation awareness. The thing is, we dont have whose conditions here on the highveld often, and in the cape it would be quite normal.

I remember on my PPL renewal they did not allow me to fly on a 172 with more than 12knots of wind, not to mention crosswind. It should be part of the training as well.
If that would apply to the guys on the coast, they will never be able to complete a licence, thats my point.
Maybe the guys from the coast can comment on the wind situation, in their training.(not crosswind) :!:

Had a great day flying. Dave took me for a very quick flight in the WT9 Dynamic (Alan Lentle's aeroplane) - eventually got a flight in it - lovely - only about 20 minutes.

Later on, Dave's sister wanted to take our 3 3/4 year old son to the Animal Farm. So I jumped at the opportunity and asked Dave to take me for an "interesting" flight in the EuroStar - not just around the patch. So at 3pm we took off on a flight for the Drakensberg - what a beautiful country we live in!

Although the light was not great for photos, here are some anyway - had a lovely flight right up to Sani's Pass (11 500ft) and arrived back at Cato as the sun was setting- wonderful. Flew past quite a few airfields on the way - Himeville, Underberg, Riverlea, Drak Gardens, etc. Only thing is that there is work again tomorrow!

Damn i love this sport.

Arrived at the airfield on Saturday AM, little crosswind but nothing too serious. Did two circuits and landed to wait for the other guys. 20 minutes later mist :x

Eventually got back up at 11h30 but could only fly for 20minutes. Had to go collect the daughter from work.

Waited for three hours for mist to lift before doing half an hour with instructor and then 3 solo circuits at Saldanha. Nice cross wind came up for the last landing just to make thing tricky.
