Thanks stan, look frward to it....
PS
Are the wireless TX stuff any good? I would like to mount a pencil on the tail of the RV, but it is a huge drama to get AV cable back to cockpit. There is 12v for the strobes at the tail. Any other ideas?
PPS
RV is a blik aerie and rivitted fuse/wings so not so easy to get inside...

Hey RV...
I knwo the RV. Flew with Johan Akkerman some...
Lovely aircraft, and I am kind of familiar with it...
Well - here's a little thought for you...
We were doing some surveillance for a special client recently, where there was some stock-theft from heavy transport vehicles...
So we were called in.
I fitted two very tiny pin-hole cameras to the truck, one inside the cab and the other facing the rear at the area where the theft was taking place FROM.
I pushed it through a quad and tranmitted it with a Microwave Transmitter back to our vehicle.
We were not using our bus, for obvious reasons (visibility), since this was a covert surveiilance job.
The aerial for the transmitter was a 6dB high-gain that we fitted inside the truck-cab, under the roof.
Our recorded was anotebook PC with my video capture card attached...
Now - anyone that knows anything about radio signals will tell you they like direct line-of site.
So, here we had an aerial that was INSIDE the metal roof, not on top, with half the vehicle behind it AND the trailer (petrol tanker) tagging along behind.
The suppliers claimed that the transmitter was a 1Km job...
From our chase-vehicle, we were able to:
1. Hear the audio so perfectly that we could hear AND record BOTH sides of cell-phone conversations from a mini micro camera and mic.
2. We could SEE everything from more than 1Km behind the vehicle, while MOVING, with other cars on the road.
3. We were able to record everything that happened inside and around the vehicle, even when the vehicle was inside a depot behind an electric fence!
So - to answer your question:
If installed properly, a tiny little 50m transmitter running off the 12V supply should work perfectly.
But, you'll need BOTH a transmitter and a reveiver...
But this sounds like a very good idea... You can effectively film YOURSELF flying!
Any other questions? It seems class is open!
Seriously - if you have any more questions - shoot...
But all you buggers owe me flips!
Stan.

Flip anytme you in big smoke. I am dead keen on a wide angle lens on the tail to C what I C. I am hoping to do both an Aero's and Formo course soon and these will be invaluable as learning tool for debrief after the flight....
Let's see what you come up with after weekend.
Cheers

Catching bad guys...
Mwaaaaaahhaaaaahaaaa!
ROFLMAO!
I was just WAITING for that!
Man's answer: Yeah, we caught them, shot them, maimed them, stripped them, corpse-raped them and handed them over to the police to set free due to lack of evidence....
Honest answer: No - the "suspects" were fired for other offences, word got out (via management, nogal) and the theft stopped IMMEDIATELY...
There was also theft at a client's site. Stuff like cables, etc from trucks.
We went to do a site survey...
Word got out immediately that "Forensic came around to fit camera's"
Theft stopped!
Now the company says they only need me to come around and look at the building every couple of weeks...
Power perceived is Power achieved!
Haha!
Good spot man...

And that is why I don't fly a trike.DarkHelmet wrote:Stan - as RV inclined - when you are in the "groot rook" again you are welcome to come for a flip with me too! I leave home at 04:30 though

Will change once I have access to runway 500m away though. Then only roll out of bed at 5.45 to be in air by 6.....

Aircraft Camera Installation
Ok guys (and girls?)...
I have prepared a list of potential components for an aircraft camera installation.
I didn't include any prices on purpose, since there are just so many suppliers and different models, configurations and makes around.
Problem is - the PDF is about 600K and I am not allowed to attach it!
Can anyone help? Perhaps I can e-mail it to one of the boss's and they can attach it?
But - if you want prices, just PM me, or e-mail me on stanhome @ ibfsa . com ...
Also, it is difficult to account for installations sundries (cables, clamps, bolts, etc.) without seeing a particular aircraft.
I am chatting to old RV4Ker about doing a system for him right now, so let's see what we come up with?
RV - wanna do this as a "for Forum Information" project?
There are many things to consider, like accessability, location, temperature, etc. So, I've writted the attached outline, just to get the interactional juices flowing.
Shout if there are any questions, and let's see what we can do, yes?

Hi Stan,
Firstly it is great to see someone local that can assist us with this - I am always hesitant when ordering from overseas as you never know if the stuff will work back here in Sunny SA.
I am also very keen on setting something up – This unit would be for a trike so we may end up with two projects – One for the 3 axis and one for the trikes.
I have PM’d you my contact details.
