Greetings to those in waiting and others!! Been busy, negligent and downright inconsiderate!

I hereby cordially invite all Microlighters/Fixed/Rotor or otherwise, Novices and the Fundies, to join me for the annual Microland to Barberton fly away, which now includes some fun comp flying with Mcfie at the Africa Cup.

Departure: Fri July 18 first light from Microland expected back Sunday 20th - Middayish.

Schedule: Wimpy for breakfast and fuel run upon arrival and settling in. Depart for the 'Kruger Run' (13h30ish) along the
Crock River to Komati via the 'Gorge'. Boma dinner, kuier, @!!&**%#!!, sleep.
Depart first light for Numbi via 'Gorge n' Kruger', breakfast with the AfricanCupians and some fun comp detail with Mcfie.
Buzz the SABI/Graskop/God's Window whilst at it?? Return via the dams/Nelspruit back to Pyramid before dark.
Boma dinner, Kuier, @!!&**%#!!, sleep. Depart for Microland first light Sunday morning.

Briefing for those interested: Wednesday 19h00 - Microland Lapa.

Pit-stop Lydenburg thereto and Arnot upon return. For those flying two up, I will sort fuel arrangements.

evening/s at Pyramid, and the Numbi Hotel http://www.hotelnumbi.co.za for any alternative intentions. Both venues shall be fully booked and the FIFO rule applies. Those spending both evenings at pyramid (moi), can expect to fly at least 13 hours over the weekend.

For the guys that have waited till 99, I will be able to help with accomodation for around 2 to 4 guys. (Lay out matresses on floor upstairs- onsuite bathroom) and there is a 450m strip on the farm. I am about 4nm south from Pyramid and 2nm south of Barberton Airfield (CC Pockock) Pvt strip Alma.( checkout Easyplan)

Is there any update on this trip. I have booked in with Sharon at pyramid for Friday and Saturday night. Is there a pre-trip briefing to arrange departure times agree on final route etc? Paul Mulder indicated Wednesday evening was possibility for planning. If so what time? Current WX doesn't look great with NE wind at 8knots gusting to 20 on Friday!! Witbank about the same, If we can get to Pyramid it looks a lot more friendly at 4-5knots easterly.But lets wait until closer to time to make a call.

Hi Frank,

Best thing to do is call Mervyn. Last plan was to fly to a private strip just to the west of Carolina to refuel, then on to Pyramid. Route back is a stop over at Arnot power station.

Wind looks awful for Friday, but over the last weekend the forecast has improved substantially, so I'm hoping it will continue to do so.

This forecast has been pretty stable now for the last 36 hrs. Looks good everywhere except the trip down. Fingers crossed! Most of my other weather sites more or less agree with Wind Guru.
