Comment: The cold front that has hammered the Cape can be seen heading up towards Gauteng and the North West Provinces. Whereas it is somewhat dissipated, windy and cold conditions are anticipated.

Comments: Look out for high level winds on Tuesday and Wednesday along with Saturday and Sunday! Sunday is 'maintenance day' . . . keep your aerie hangered!! Thursday and Friday look to be GREAT flying days!

Comment: Clear skies prevail! Some weather can be seen over the Cape but it should not affect us up in the North West Province! Conditions get fairly cold on Sunday and Monday but then warm up slightly from Tuesday onwards.

Comments: A slight window for flying in the early morning but be aware of winds picking up towards midday.

Wind: S 8-14 knots increasing to SSW 12-16 knots later in the morning.
High-Level Winds: Yes, severe high-level winds
Temperatures: 10-15C
Cloud Cover: No
Precipitation: No

Comments: This is not good flying weather for trikes and LSAs!

High-Level Winds: Yes, up to 24 knots
Temperatures: 6-19C
Cloud Cover: No
Precipitation: No

Comments: High level winds will make for uncomfortable flying!


Sunday 21st July:

Wind: SSE 6-7 knots increasing to ESE 6-9 knots later in the morning.
High-Level Winds: Yes - Not as bad as Saturday at altitude BUT there is a band of wind close to the ground (< 500ft AGL)
Temperatures: 5-17C
Cloud Cover: No
Precipitation: No

Comments: Not as severe as Saturday but some high-level winds will make for less than smooth flying.

The winds-aloft graph above (third diagram) is 2000ft AGL, so the winds 'turn green' (10+ knots) from about 500ft AGL, then get up to 20+ knots above 1500ft AGL (yellow/orange/red zone)!

As I said earlier, quite manageable, just not comfortable for newbies!
