Dozi Runway Hartebeespoort Dam?

Postby pietmeyer » Fri Jun 22, 2012 4:35 pm

A while back on the forum somewhere there was a post about the runway being built next to Harties? Any info on the progress and what is planned for this airfield?

No, but AWESOME for touch and go's!! The other day with zero wind conditions I was doing touch and go's with teardrops from both ends!! I got in about 10 in as many minutes!! ##

Oh, just be careful of the locals . . . . there is a squatter camp at the end of 36 and the locals use the runway as a very wide pathway into town!!

So be sure to overfly first, although some of them don't seem to understand what it means to walk in the way of a landing aircraft!!

A good reference is "just to the South East of Silkaats Nek" (about 1,5 miles), which is the next gap/road over the Magaliesburg, east of the dam wall.

It is just impossible to own vacant land in this country! Halve the runway occupied by squatters already! (**)

I saw this two weeks ago when flying over Dozi!

No longer safe to land there!! Runway is half the length with continuous intrusions by people and dogs!

I would only use it in an emergency!
