Sitting in Nelspruit at Andrews place waiting...waiting... lovely weather. Will head back to Vrede this arvie, and then crack on in the morning.Dont want to arrive at Addo in in the evening as the wind really blows there,so will try to find a sleep over close by and tackle the last few hours early. The journey is by no means near to its end and who knows what awaits me.

Hi All, landed safely at Addo Elephant park about 11.40 yesterday. Total time about 18/19 hrs. All good, just catching my breath and then will fly in a big plane back to Joeys on Monday morning. Congrats to all of you at the big formation flight-very cool.

Actually the only blip on this trip was boarding the Comair/Brit Airways flight at O.R Tambo. My long range fuel tank caused a great dilemma. It was empty but had a smell of fuel. So i was sent off, tried cream soda washout and then strawberry and then coke. To no avail. The container impounded.British Airways - ....
Addo Elephant Park a cool spot , the Bantam i had to take back to Andrew-very tatty- so my nerves were on edge for 10.5hrs. Nightstop Vrede but aerie wont even nearly start in the early morning. This wips me beyond comprehension. Undo tent pegs and get a jump start. Move along over a very misty Drakensberg after a refuel at... cant remember.Descend down and pull in at Little Nelspruit. Nobody there to meet me but this is the style of this sortie. After a day or two Andrew has sorted the Big Six with transponder and Nat Parks Radios, so i pull out of Nelspruit midday back to Addo Elephant P.E. .Nightstop in Bethlehem sleep in the aerie, and full up with avgas in the morning. My mates tell me i must move my ass- bad weather coming up in P.E. So i do take all sorts of possible shortcuts, flying alongside the Maluti moutains the cold is unbearable, have to fly at 8500ft to maintain groundspeed and avoid turbulence, pull out my sleping bag but it has little effect as the cold air is being sucked in from the backside of the underpod, but the good news is 68kts groundspeed -4hrs to go.This was a test- BIG TIME.I am getting colder and colder and starting to shiver with 3hrs to run.Can not descend the mountains are too big, so i have to go another 2hrs because the last hr is descending into warm air , my thinking and senses will come alive again. And thats what keeps me going. And i keep myself busy fully aware that the cold and 19hrs of flying are taking their toll. But then i land smoothly ,taxi up ,no reception just me and the aerie and sunshine, such comfort.

If you're not concerned about the hair do why don't you slip on a helmet with visor when no one is looking? :)
