Hi guys , my ferry flight from Wellington to Secunda was successfull. I took the most direct route through the Cape mountains-not over-via Worcester and then past Sutherland. The leg accross the Karroo was very hairy to say the least, all the worst factors, extreme temps high winds and no where to land and get your mind together. So just push on and on and on ,7hrs later arrive in Vic West, just some hot and thirsty goats. I find a bushman with a clapped out Toyota and send him off to track down some juice, in the mean time i hang on to the new owners plane for dear life whilst the wind , scorching sun and sand pound the Bantam and me.
That night i sleep in the plane at De Aar, fighting off desert mosquitos. Take off before light and grab a free ride in the form of a tailwind-at last. Many more hours float bye and in the distance i can see the green irrigation circles of the Vrystaat. Can relax a bit now at the thought of rescue if something should go wrong. That night i find a lakker farmer who happens to own a Cheetah, so i am more than well looked after. Early morning full up with loads of fuel i blast off on the last leg towards Secunda. Light rain greets me at the Vaal Dam , and i touch down 17hrs later at Secunda. The proud owner is waiting with a 6 pack ,cheers!
