John, I would love to be there, as I said on the Tedderfield thread, I had grand plans to be there, got home, told the minister of finance passion and war, and she reminded me that we are on a cruise, so I unfortunately have to miss it... I guess I could miss the cruise too, but I might find myself single after that...

in terms of getting off my ass... that is in process, Flo is finding out form the guys at RAASA today what the requirements are for Upgrading from fling wing PPL to MPL ## But whatever happens, I will be physically starting my flying as of the end of the month... gotta get past the Long month of Jan, and a job change and various other things, before I can make my first payment to Flo...

Can't argue with you there... I think Tedderfield will be a safer place to be than on a cruise liner... But as I said... I may just find myself single if I pull that one...

Can't believe that failure though, what the hell is happening if a cruise liner ends up that close to shore? was the captain maybe taking advantage of a cabin stewardess or something instead of actually doing his job...

Upgrading from fling wing PPL to MPL
Upgrading is an understatement!

I think you'll get CREDITS for the subjects already passed (Air Law, Nav, Human Performance, Principles of Flight, Radio) and may more than likely have to write TECHNICAL again.

You may also get some wee credit on flying time but I am not sure this will be the case.

Thanks John,

Will let you guys know as soon as I know... But I suspect I will need to write PRINCIPLES and TECHNICAL as a minimum, as I was on Choppers, so Fixed wing principles are different anyway... Time credit will be nice in terms of making the minimum numbers easier to reach, but I am less worried about that, as I don't want to have my licence on minimums, I want to be competent... then again, from what I have seen so far, Flo is never going to let someone go up who is not competent, regardless of their prior experience, so I will have my license when I am ready, not when some specified number of hours have passed...

Cheers

Well it looks like we are going to get oppertunity to promote Microlight flying on TV. We are planning a trip from Pretoria to Gariepdam then all along the Orange River to Oranjemund, then Springbok and back to Pretoria. I mentioned this to a friend of mine who is the owner of a TV Production house and they are keen to go with us and film the trip as a TV series.
Can you imagine the exposure, showing people what Microlighting is all about! ## ## ##
