I have already made a donation of R500 - deposit slip available on request. If you haven't included that and want to sell more tickets you can give me 49 & 50, but I'm not that interested in the raffle.

Hi Guys/Girls
Just my 2 cents worth.
This raffle idea is an excellent idea but not very practical. First, I don't know if we are going to get to 200 tickets and if we only going to do the draw in Feb? Ian urgently needs the money ASAP for the operation.
I Spoke Alex last night. Ian's Trike apparently is in excellent condition. To expedite things, why don't we Auction the Trike? This will make the money available sooner. Alex is even prepared (As mentioned in earlier post) to negotiate terms, as it looks like he will be prepared to finance the deal if a sizeable deposit is made. Once again, it's just an idea...

There were a good response to the request for donations and a good amount was already collected and I am sure much appreciated by Ian.

Morning Airhog,

I think there are two schools of thought here. The first being that we all try donate / purchase "raffle" tickets to see how much we can accumilate and the second is to sell / auction the trike.
Due to the transparency of the "raffle" sales we are aware that there has been at least 50 tickets sold so far which amount to R 10 000.00. I realise this is still far from the target however this amount was acheived in only 2.5 days and does not take into account the pledges made by members for direct donations.
My 2 cents worth
Before the trike is sold / auctioned we should see if it is not possible to raise the monies required by means of donations / "raffle" in that even if the "raffle" goes ahead I am more than sure that a large percentage of the ticket holder will hand the keys of the trike back to the rightful owner ( prehaps I just have too much faith in humanity)

Surely those who have bought 'raffle' tickets will not be happy if it is then auctioned?
I suggest a decision as to the means of fundraising be decided quickly to prevent any further confusion.
I for one, (and others I'm sure) are waiting and want to know if, this is a donation, raffle, auction, or outright purchase fundraiser. (^^) (^^)

Another suggestion, - seeing that there is a lot of interest in the raffle this might work but we don't have the time on our hands. What if we can get 3 or 4 "investors" to buy the trike and they become the owners until the draw can take place. The ticket sales can go back to them in Feb plus interest after the draw and any profit (maybe more than 200 sales) to Ian? So, we actually "borrow" the money with the trike as security.

Might be a stupid suggestion but at least we can try and raise the money needed NOW

If you auction or buy the trike the current owner will loose his aeroplane

Donations or a "raffle" will ensure that the trike stays with the owner as I am sure most people will donate the trike back.

Why not request that the people who will buy tickets but intend to donate it back rather make donations in lieu of buying the tickets.

The investor option will work but the "investors" stand a chance of not getting their money back.

Come on fellow aviators, make those donations / pledges so that Ian can get his operation...

If you rely on selling/ auctioning the trike you've narrowed your interest base to the few who want a Windlass 503 and those in the market have I'm sure, seen the advert and not bothered to respond before the fundraiser came about.

Raffle the thing. Raise the ticket price if you have to and let everyone who has access to a larger flying community i.e. flying clubs who don't visit here to distribute a.s.a.p and close the raffle by the 16th of December so 2 okes have an even better Chismiss.
