Howzit Bundy, purchased this little aerie from a farmer in the Karroo(spelling?) a few months back, so i had to ferry it home.Once airborne at Graaf R i realised the weather was perfect making it possible to do the trip to Magaliesberg in one hop.I was carrying extra fuel on the other seat and managed to syphon it into the long range tank.Once that was done i just had to sit back and control the bladder(unsuccessfully!) Landed with about 8litres of juice back in Hekpoort.

what about fatigue, some refreshments eg tea/coffee and eats to stay the hunger/thirst
Let alone ablutions
Sue what was the fuel burn as I understand the Jaburu is economical

Graaf Reinett to Magalies in B22J

Postby Suesing » Fri Jul 08, 2011 7:05 pm

Howzit guys the truth is wet shorts ,BUT, i had nice clean ones in my tog bag that i changed into about 15mins b4 landing, all fresh for my friends and supporters.Entertainment was jelly babies, lots of map reading, coffee, more map reading, syphoning fuel (that was a bit of a challenge) the odd smoke, radio calls, and DEAD RECKONING big time. I used a hiking g.p.s so it was important to go the old fashioned nav route.I used the g.p.s more to determine my ground speed at different altitudes. My rule was no less than 50kts ground speed. So yeh, hands on stuff. When i started running low on juice with still an hour to run, just throttled back and used the hills to lessen the headwind-flying very low.Fuel was about 12lts an hour.

Re: Show us your best pictures: Betlehem - Berg

Postby Asterix » Mon Jul 18, 2011 6:55 pm

I hope "musicvideo's" qualify. This link was something I composed encompassing my favorite band with my favorite activity.

30 May 2011. Me and Bugwar had flown from Hartswater to Betlehem that morning with good tailwinds, but we had to wait out low cloud at Betlehem. At around 15h30 that afternoon, we knew that it was now or never - bugger turbulence - we either depart NOW for Backpackers Lodge down in the Berg, or those thunderheads in the distant west will keep us overnight at Betlehem.

We took off. And slept down in the Berg that night!
