250cc rotary magneto ignition !!
Re: 250cc rotary magneto ignition !!
Us big okes only start looking at 75hp or more. If you fly a single seat trike and you weigh next to nothing at sea level this could be an answer if the price was right and backup service available. Humbly sir my 503 Rotax is the smallest i would go . Look at the Suzuki engines used in Canada and elsewhere now that is a possible economical and PROVEN alternative. We need a reliable proven engine since flying distances here are quite far at times over scary country. Need to hear the steady purr and have no doubts when flying. But having said all that , the Rotary engines built in the States are pretty cool IF we could get those guys to answer our emails even after at least 6 attempts. Their engines are proven , priced right BUT no response to trying to buy one. Lokk at websites for Raven trikes and Adkins Rotary engines

Point taken, however, it compares very good.
Your 503 Aixro wankel
49.6 Horse 48 Horse
73 lbs 30 lbs
rpm max 6000 rpm max 10300
Higher engine revs capability gives you the option of going 3,5:1 gear ratio thus running at 8550 rpm (1750 on the good side of red line)engine revs to 2500 prop revs at 161 nm of torque at the prop.
Your 503 at 3:1 at 6000 (red line)engine rpm will give you only 2000 prop revs at 168nm at the prop.
And this at half the weight.
It is a real pity though that you cant get any response from the suppliers.
