What did you fly this week
3 week ago I took my 5 year old son with me to Panorama
on the return flight there was a huge storm over Jhb Cbd we only had a few drops on the western side
but he remembered me telling him that microlight and rain don't mix so he was quite tense about this.
When we turned at the dome in bright sunlight he relaxed
so much so that he fell asleep curled up in the seat with the radio making a noise all the time in the headsets :D
So Andrew I will vouched for you if the kid is restless next time and you want to just lull him to sleep in the T-bird
Tell your wife it works
really

No it does not glide- it FLIES
Hmmm... already been having a careful look at his car seat to see what mods are necessary to make it work with a 4-point harnessIFLYHI wrote:...So Andrew I will vouched for you if the kid is restless next time and you want to just lull him to sleep in the T-birdTell your wife it works

Management doesn't see the humour at the mo tho... Maybe he'll just have to wait for the Savannah... Closed doors "sound" so much safer, don't they dear...

This morning the conditions were fantastic for flying. (photos by Nokia, not the best)
We took off and flew low level up the old Malmesbury road to Kalbas before heading towards Bokpunt and the coast

Overhead bokpunt

Routing south low level along the beach

A picnic spot at Matroosbaai

Climbing to 2500ft overhead the offending Koeberg

A view of Melkbos in the forground and the mountain in the distance from 2500ft AMSL. Blouberg hill is just on the left

We then routed back to Morning Star passing overhead Blouberg hill and the pill boxes built by the Boers during the Battle of Blouberg 1806.

I hour of absolute bliss :D

Man did I have an awesome flight this morning. I flew to Capetown and back. Here is the route I took (photo's by Nokia so not too clear)

The wind was completely still on the ground but there was some wispy low level cloud threatening. Stphan and I took off and routed to the coast. We flew south over Sunset Beach and into Ysterplaat AFB ATC. We radio'd for clearence and were cleared to route along the cloast at 1000ft AMSL.
Sunset Beach

Woodbridge Island

Past Ysterplaat, in the mist you can just make out the runway just right of centre in the middle of the pic

Closer to the mountain

The Waterfront. Here we climbed to 2500ft to give us sufficient gliding distance in emergencies.

Greenpoint and the arse end of Lions Rump

Coming up to Lions Head

Lions Head from an angle I never thought I would see

Camps Bay

I then headed back over Lions Rump with a view of the city

and the Yacht Basin before routing back via Ysterplaat airspace to Table View and on to Morning Star

:D :D :D :D :D :D

This morning got airborne out of Rhino on my last dual nav and it was like sitting in a lounger just better flew over the wall at Bronkies dam and it's overflowing and looking good. It all got a bit bumpy as time went on but a good nav at the end.
Morph that trip of yours looks awsome.

Hi Morpheus,
you make such pretty photos. Ag man, but please buy a nice digital camera. In future you will regret the fact that your photos are not of a better quality. Or can it be that you have a fancy camera, and only put those photos from the phone into the Forum because you are scared all the Gautis will move sommer nou na die Kaap if you show your nice photos?

Arnulf

I agree, and I do have a nice fancy camera, but this flight was completely unplanned. The conditions were perfect and only once we were up in the air did we decide to fly around this way. Unfortunately all I had was the phone, better than nothing I suppose.
But next time :D
Hey, from an ex Gauti you boys are always welcome to come have a look at the awesome Cape. Just let me know.
