I'd love to join, but it depends on finances.
Had a little oopsie in my plane followed by my car's engine seizing in December, so we'll see when and if I can get funds together to get them both fixed  :(
Love to join though!

As this is quite involved and needs proper planning and discussion (read:"a good excuse for a fly-away"), we have arranged a "bosberaad" at Sibaka Lodge for the weekend of 19 Feb 2011.

Details at: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=14909&p=147684#p147684.

Hope to see you there.....

Count me in ! (^^) Must stretch the toyota's legs 8)

4 Days ! ## It's not a drag race. Lots to see

Get one guy with transponder, form a 747 formation with 10 trikes, call tower " Springbuck heavy coming in " and fly straight through king what's the name's airspace 8) 8)

On a serious note. This trip will be the best. Can also arrange for ground crew to follow.

I Love it when a plan starts getting together puff .

At the outset of this post let me just emphasize that the idea is to accomodate as many pilots as possible - so AGAIN - this is why we posted this early in the year - to get input!

From the interest shown, it seems that most guys will have 4 days. In the light of this we may have to work on the route. From some telephonic discussions had, we might want to do one of the following - A or B.

A first: (without further planning considered at this stage)
- We go south over Newcastle / Ladysmith - towards Howick. We then cut up across Ballito / Empangeni / Ezulwini (St Lucia) and then inland via Vryheid / Volksrust/ Standerton / GP.

B next :(with some planning already considered)

We keep north first - do some lowveld, then south to Ezulwini and then back via Vryheid, Volksrust, Standerton and GP.

On the latter I have some form of skeleton plan worked out, over 4 days.

So her goes my plan - but as said above - this is an open idea"

Day one: (Flight times at 40kts groundspeed)

Microland (or wherever in GP) - Arnot. 77 nm - 1h55.
Arnot - Pyramid. 64 nm 1h36

Day Two:

From Pyramid across Swaziland to Sodwana. I NEED LOTS OF HELP HERE IN TERMS OF A FUEL STOP, Because. 143 nm - 3h35 :(> ##

Sodwana to Ezulwini. 32 nm - 0h47.

Day Three

Relax at Ezulwini with local flips from here - very nice flying options - ask me an Blue Max! Plus of course some (^^) (^^) .

Day Four

Back to GP. Ezulwini Vryheid (83 nm) - Vryheid Volksrust (55nm) Volksrust Standerton (49nm) and lastly Standerton Microland (64nm)

I can assure you that the leg back home is not that diificult, and we can easily do it in a day in winter weather. Blue Max and me got back to Standerton in a morning, and we could have done the last leg that afternoon, but since we had time we decided to stay over and enjoy my family's hospitality.

Total flying time point to point - about 15 hours. PLUS we have a day free to fly around the "Elephant Coast" (and of course some relaxed (!!) (^^) ## puff )

As you have all probably seen the Bosberaad on this trip will be at Ntokozo on 19 Feb - so please remember that all of the above is just some thoughts.

(NS: This route will take us DOWN over the escarpment on route to Pyramid from Arnot, and not UP - which I personally feel better about - Also - no (**) (**) TMA's to fret about. Shaka se gat!!) s072

This sounds spectacular, I am very keen on this trip and will have to get my ducks in a row to join. Does anyone know if on the 19th of Feb there is anyone that will be flying to Ntokozo from Aeroden? I am based in Fochville at the moment and would like to join up with someone there on saturday morning. I also would like to know if there is fuel at Aeroden?

Blue Skies...

Gary

(P.S. Asteriks I agree with your pre determined route for flying down the escarpment i.e over Swaziland...Makes me excted just reading about it.)

OK, so here comes the spanner in the works: APRIL 22 to MAY 1 is 11 days of flying and you only need to take THREE days leave.

Question is: "What is the weather at the coast like end of April?
