Ok What the hell happened here, did he take off to quick ie not enough speed?

Engine sounds like it not developing full power and there appears to be X wind.

Looks like he is keeping bar full forward after lift-off instead of easing it to neutral - airspeed not enough, wing drops to one side for whatever reason - Maybe gyroscopic force or wind or stall - pilot does not level wing and sounds like he took foot of the power - Many things went wrong

My guess

Looks like he had kept the bar all the way forward after takeoff. Not clever. (**)
A plane stalls at a constant angle of attack, and he should have eased the bar to neutral on takeoff to allow airflow over the wing. He would have lost speed as a consequence. Not that I'm an expert, but I learned that for my principles of flight exams, and had that drilled into me while in training. Does that sound right?

Watch carefully as he accelerates. Before he is at flying speed, he allready starts to push the bar. (This just acts to slow him down). After take off, Big D hits the nail on the head by saying that he does not bring the bar back to neutral to gain airspeed before attempting climb out. Either this guy was very new or perhaps he was not used to the extra take off run needed when flying with PAX? Who knows??

You instructors should show this clip to your new students... I have never seen a take off stall like this one before. Lots of good lessons to be learnt from this clip.

I think they were pretty sore after that.

Yep, for sure a stall, no air speed... wing dips....to low to recover.....BHAM!!!
Hope they where okay.

:( :(
Once airborne, pull bar in to build speed and maintain course above runway.. Dont try to turn to soon specially when there is a pax on board..

We had this exact scenario at our airfield.

Windlass with cut-back wing, 2 up, stall 30ft above ground after take-off. Pilot and pax fortunately walked away with minimal injury. Aircraft very sick - wing unsalvagable, pylon & lower boom bent.

Pilot admits forcing the trike off the ground. He has a lot of experience and many hours, but flys sporadically and on this day was in a hurry to get airbourne as the light was fading.

Obviously this problem is also exacerbated by the extra weight that not only increases the stall speed, but also increases the momentum of the pendulum of the trike under the wing, which swings further forward and tends to increase the angle of attack of the wing.

I was taught, and I try to teach pupils to fly by feel rather than to fly by numbers. Indicated airspeed is not a guarantee that the aircraft is ready to fly. Wind direction and speed, air density, leaving ground effect and especially added weight will affect aircraft performance enormously, so I ask my pupils to be patient and wait until they are sure that those wings are fully supporting the aircraft and that the speed has built up enough before they climb.

Don't trikes have ASI's? Most I have seen do and they are all still in one piece.

We do have ASI's, but I generally feel the airspeed on my chest or the feel of the wing
