It is well within your reach from FAFK 30 Miles or so.

The farm is near Somersveld apparently. Just up the road from my home. Can't believe that I am going to drive all the way to Saldanha, fly down to Darling and then back to Saldanha, and then drive home to Darling again. I am thinking of putting up a hangar at Somersveld and then claiming squatting rights when the SAAF tries to throw me off. Seems to work for other people in SA. Anybody else willing to join the Somersveld Resident Squatter Association?

Tailspin I think a lot of us are proud members of the PPA. (maybe that is what we should call the forum ) If you want to feel truly out of your league go over to AVCOM. Unless they were having us on some of those guys have two or three cars in the Rk400 price bracket I always wondered why SA Flyer had the articles on the mega $$$ cars. Seems that some people actually buy them.

Who would not be happy if you work hard and smart, can spend time with your family, and can still fly.

I think that most of the fun is being had by the micro guys though.

If you feel that you are out of the league when considering car values, remember one thing and that is that an aircraft is at the worst, a stable asset, and normally an appreciating asset. A motor vehicle is always a depreciating asset and all it is at the end of the day is a means to get you safely from point a to point b. If you choose to spend big money on them, that is your own business.

Owning your own aircraft however releases a sense of pride and achievement, whether it is the cheapest microlight to the most expensive personal jet. The greatest thing is that you are flying, looking down at the silly buggers who are restricted to roads.

I flew today to Kittyhawk with friends and spent the afternoon there, met with a mate who also flew in and flew back to Rand in the late afternoon. The traffic on the pta highway was full up and we had the liberty of flying with limited traffic aloft.

Whether you are flying a 40mph microlight or a 230mph fast aerie makes no difference, at least you are flying.

I'm flying from Rand to Mawala tomorrow with mates for breakfast. It's a 90nm flight. I wish I was flying a microlight there tomorrow. In an aerie it's a short trip, in a microlight, it's a whole days adventure.
