The news a lot of guys were waiting for.......So this morning the Yaris powered Explorer flew, and I was there for the experience. Diesel dog removed the silencer for weight reduction reasons, so it sounded like a F1 speeding by as middle speed. Takeoff was short, and climb rate good, 100MPH was easily reached. Johan Froneman did the honours as test pilot, and when he landed his smile stretched half-way around his head. I am impressed. DD can supply us with the facts and the figures after they played a bit. Well done to DD, he`s done a super job!!! Fly safe and enjoy the new toy. Anyone looking for a hardly- flown Yabbie?? (^^) (^^) (^^) (^^) (^^) (^^) (^^) (^^) (^^) (^^) (^^) (^^) (^^) (^^) (^^) (^^) (^^) (^^) (^^) (^^) (^^) (^^) (^^) (^^) (^^) (^^) (^^) (^^) (^^) (^^) (^^) (^^) (^^) (^^) (^^)

Diesel Dog what a wonderful achievement. I know what it takes , it takes a lot of effort we now need the hours , the ingredients are the right stuff. With your tender love and care it sets the home builder free. And freedom is what it is all about.

Good luck.

Thanks for all the positive response.I would like to thank every body that has made a contribution to this project
Boet for handing me the batten to complete this project
Van zyl aviation for paperwork
CAA for processing our applications quickly
Johan Froneman test pilot
The ecoyota powered explorer has 2hrs flight time so far and i am happy with the results

Ac empty weight 348kg ,pilot only,30lt fuel
Takeoff ias 60 mph
Climb 950ft\min@70mph
Straight and level full power 102mph@6300rpm
Cruise 90mph@5800rpm
Touchdown 66mph
Coolant temp 79-85celcius
Oil temp 85-94celcius
She does not want to stall ,slight buffet and altitude loss.
When the power is cut she drops the nose and glides 70 mph with good elevator authority
The above performance specs recorded on the mgl voyager but still have to be verified by many more hours of testing before I will put my name on them.
