Re: Buying Flying Suites - your experience
Air Magic supply a fleece neck warmer and helmet inner that make a huge difference as they "block" the holes! The full face visor too should be considered - see the cover of the latest magazine and you will see where the cold attacks!
Fly safe and enjoy the Kalahari.
Cover the face and the neck and the flight suit will be less important unless it rains! That's when it makes a huge difference. A wet fridge suit is no match for an Icarus suit, a fridge suit is difficult to get off and on, it offers few pockets but as far as dry warmth is concerned it is built for the job at lower temperatures than the flight suits. Add a plastic apron and you do not need any suit?Fly safe and enjoy the Kalahari.

Re: Buying Flying Suites - your experience
Thanks for the keep warm tips. Air Magic? Where do I get hold of a fleece neck warmer. You are right, the cold comes in around the neck and in the helmet. I do fly with a balacava, but it is porous. Need something like you have just described. Can you send me in the right direction to purchase such an object.
Thanks again. You have all been most helpful. Happy no fly this weekend or happy fly with lots of paperwork....
Cheers
Erika

There is a company in Edenvale that makes the flight suites. Skyriders, freedom flight school and many others buy from them. We're not sorry we bought from them they even make the gloves that you fasten on the A frame. You will be looking at R 1400 to R1900. if you interested send me a pm and i'll get the name and number for you.

Just remember with the custom made suits the most important measurement is from the crotch to the neck, too short and you have a biiiig problem

Re: Buying Flying Suites - your experience
For me, I don't like the full suits. I prefer seperate trousers and jacket. If very cold, use windproof pants over normal trousers, and as with earlier post I also prefer seperate layers topped with jacket. After landing you can take the jacket off while chatting or having coffee break on an outlanding. The full fly suits are to hot and too much hassle to take off and put back on every time you stop somewhere while a jacket is no problem. Something for the neck essential in cold weather.
