The skull is a decal, easily removed, but it a talking point where ever I go. (when they have stopped throwing stones, beer bottles and the like     )

Was wanting to sand down and respray the whole thing "nicely"    for 2 reasons.
1 there are some "gag" fillings that have been done
&
2 learn how to spray as "life" experience....  for when I redo the Meercat...

I am doing this aerie building thing basckwards. i am going to respray it and redo the panel, cowls and fibreglass work.... Nothing wrong with the airframe and rivits are good... just finishing that a bit K@K

Sucker for punishment...

So far most people have recommended strontium chromate to me as a primer.

Justin

Get someone that have sprayed sheetmetal with poprivets before, or practise well. You will quickly see why!! Running paint from rivet heads is common.

Cheers

PAINT or VINAL (Stickers)

Once the aircraft is painted white and you want lines on as a motive.....is it a must to spray them on, or would it be fine to make use of vinal or stickers or something like that?

If possible....what type is advisable and where could one buy it?

Stickers are easier and can be replaced. I have seen a couple RV's which look great with stickers on.

Hi RV4ker,

This afternoon I visited Skyworx Aviation at FAKR and saw some really beautiful paintwork, including a RV. They have their own paint system which is water based. They will supply the paint or do the whole job. I won't comment on the system as I don't have the full story but it looks like a very attractive option to 2K. The flexibility and hardness of the paint is varied through the amount of hardener added and a mix for fabric covered aeries is also on the range. So it can be used on all kinds of surfaces. I would suggest you give Kevin Hopper a bel at 082 346 0150.

For everyone who gave Justin Painting advise..

I'll be painting my Beaver Rx-550 soon. But that is fibreglass. I bought some K2. Is there any specific way to spray that except for the plastic primer to be sprayed on???

Im gonna try airbrushing some decal too....

I spoke to the guy at the paint shop. I just need to spray it with the plastic gray primer. But would like to know if
there might be a tecnique for spraying fibreglass..

regards

Hester
