Gert
I actually hate your logs and wish you would stop posting them!! This is especially true when I have been sitting in my office on the days when you have been out there drilling holes in the sky.

Seriously – I am an avid reader and enjoy spotting the landmarks near my cabbage patch.

P.S. Who is Pieter? (we all know who CLUless is )
P.P.S. 'The Cannibal Queen’ is the only Stephen Coonts book I have really enjoyed. Have read it three times over the years.

Peter likes to use the pseudonymn CLUless. Quite admirable for someone that old to remember two names. :D

Pieter Schoeman is a farmer I took for a flip on Saturday. It transpired that the Greyton farming community do not use pseudonymns, but for some or other reason use their own names.

I thought I would get more "you are foolish" comments. Have just updated the picture to show how I crabbed into that SE to line up with runway 20 at the last moment - really stopped in a couple of meters.

Should not have, glad I did scenario.

Gert,

In a way you are fortunate to have Winterfogel as your airfield. There is nothing to produce rotor turbulance and you can safely take off on 25MPH winds. Sometimes I wish I too had that opportunity, but at MS we are petrified to even take off in such a wind.

Well Done

Had a lovely day flying on Thursday 17th. I made a 760K videoclip of me flying close to Trygve - which can be downloaded www.zu-dve.com

Videoclip was not available due to domain problems - online as from 19/11

Gert,

Great posting and pictures/log.

Your exhaust has "Sorry Your Ass Is" :D

I know you have been piling on the flying hours but your trike is still very new - why have to do the exhaust so soon - or is it not powder coated from the factory ??

Yes, I have been piling the hours. Just added them up, and I am 0.3 hours shy of the magic 100 solo hours.

I also have some PPL hours, but do not even count them since I am going to let that license lapse.

Unfortunately when I had ZU-DVE delivered, the (totally unreliable) person who was used to deliver, took the coastal route (with the Trike on the back of his bakkie) while also delivering boats etc en route from Durban and the exhaust was exposed to sea air over a couple of days - got delivered with rust marks.

Gert,

I had my 582's mild steel exhaust coated by Powerkote in JHB ww.powerkote.co.za and it was money very well spent. After the coating average EGT temps was about 50 degress cooler and you could touch the outside of the exhaust within a minute after switch-off. In three years - including flying along and overnighting at the coast a number of times - I never had any problems with rust. I notice they have a office in CTN. My 2c - use it - don't use it ....
