Rebuilding my Bing 54's

Postby Blueskyben » Tue Apr 19, 2016 4:01 am

Hi guys,

I have recently bought an older Windlass with a 503 DCDI motor using Bing type 54 carbs. The carbs are generally in good nick, but I would prefer to replace all gaskets etc and give it a good clean before I take to the skies in my new baby. I have contacted Comet, and they only have one of the two kits I need, and together come to nearly R5000. To me that seems a bit steep.

I've tried calling a BMW agent, and they had absolutely no idea what I was going on about. Does anyone have any advice for a recent, and completely novice microlight owner/student? Even if it sounds like a stupid suggestion, I'd like to hear it. I live in Pietermaritzburg, KZN, and fly out of Light Flight. I'm happy to pay for postage from elsewhere in the country if anyone has any ideas, or friends that could make a plan.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Ben
