503 Starter

Postby RSS » Mon Jan 04, 2016 9:57 am

Good Day,
I am in need of a starter as per the Rotax part number 293153. It is the one which does not have a Bendix, just a splined shaft. Mine is working to a degree but seems to be drawing exceptional current and wont turn the engine properly. It is almost as though the battery is flat. New battery has been installed but no help. I connect a booster in parallel to the battery and it then swings the engine properly. So my diagnosis is that the starter is dying. You comments will be appreciated.
BTW I have checked and cleaned all connections from battery to starter no difference.

If you connect a booster batt and she swings ok it shows the problem is the batt and not the starter. Maybe your new batt is also kaputt

Hi German,

after trying 100 different things I have sorted out the problem, it appears that the battery was the culprit all the time. I installed a lead acid 20AH and all is now working as it should.
