Slabfish,John Waterson and some others fly from east londen, remember New Tempe has it`s own dedicated frequency 131,3 for a 5nm radius, join @6000ft asl,as 6500ft asl will put you in the tma.

The weather is looking good, a bit of a tailwind going there on Friday and a crosswind (from the west) coming back on Sunday.

As far as I can find out there is fuel available @ both Sasolburg and Kroonstad, can someone please confirm this ? Would Sunday morning (Sasol) be a problem ? Times that the pumps are open ?

I have not decided on the plane yet but Avgas or Mogas would be fine.

Thanks for any information !

Hope to see you all there,
Fly safe,
Rudi

Rudy, there was no fuel at kroonstad with the EAA convention earlier this year an I doubt if it changed. We filled at Parys.
Jaco and myself are going by KR2.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the info and the help.

I had to turn back due to weather, got as far as Sasolburg but the visibility got worse to the point where there was no horizon with the cloud/fog dropping close to ground level, decide I would call it a day and turn back to Rhino. It got so cold that I landed at Heidelberg to put on more warm clothes ! When I left Rhino the outside temp was 11.5C (6am) but by the time I turned around it was only 3C. I had a 15 mph tail wind going there and about the same headwind coming back.

So, looks like I will miss Sun N Fun this year

Hope the weather is ok in Bloem, looking forward to the photos !

PLEASE fly safe,
Rudi

PS. This is what it looked like before it got so bad that I decided to turn around, sorry for the bad quality of the photo but the light was so low the camera had a hard time trying to focus and I was so busy flying that I could not spend much time trying to take photos.
