7 March: Coves Breakfast Fly-in Country Estate Hartbeespoort

Postby RudiGreyling » Thu Feb 05, 2015 1:51 pm

The Coves Naturally Perfect.JPG
Welcome to The Coves, a Country Estate on the banks of the Hartbeespoort Dam where residents enjoy a tranquil lifestyle in an environment rich of mountains and water. The Coves has a Private Airstrip, but welcomes any fellow aviator who applies with prior permission to visit family and friends at The Coves Estate.

Once a year (Saturday 7 March 7H00-12H00), The Coves extend an OPEN INVITATION to all aviators flying in for a scrumptious breakfast, with NO PRIOR PERMISSION required for the day!

Come fly in for the morning, enjoy our little heaven on earth, bring your family and friends. We will whisk you away to our club house for a sit down breakfast, with majestic views of mountain and water. The bar will be open for refreshments, Music for entertainment, Market day for curios and the swimming pool for cool down. After you enjoyed the morning we will shuttle you back to your aircraft, to go on your merry way...

PROCEDURES FOR THE DAY:
- Unmanned Airfield procedures will apply. Organise yourself into the circuit to the west.
- No Taxi way exist, so LAND, look for marshal and VACATE onto the GRASS to the EAST of the runway.
- SHUTDOWN and we will have helpers help you move your aircraft as far as possible away from the runway, to parking.

The airspace might get busy, and the parking aircraft might slow the runway down because there is no taxi way. So please BE PATIENT, give enough space to landing aircraft to back track and vacate. If you get caught by aircraft on runway and you on short finals, don’t panic, do a LEVEL flyby at 100ft AGL or more along the WESTERN runway boundary keep on runway heading, the resident spectators would appreciate it. If the airspace or circuit gets too busy for your liking, then just fly down our valley or around the dam, enjoy the scenery and come back a couple of minutes later.

Just 2 additional safety rules:
1) No Flying over the Estate!
2) No HIGH SPEED LOW level Runway inspections!

That said LEVEL flybys at 100 ft AGL or more on runway heading, along the western runway boundary, away from the estate side, is encouraged to showcase your aircraft in level flight.

Regards
Rudi
