Mozambique - wanting to arrange fly in

Postby Mozfly » Sun Jan 12, 2014 9:29 am

Hi All

Who would be interested for a weekend fly away in Mozambique?

I am based in Maputo and due to the lack of recreational aviators here, I would like to arrange a weekend away here for our fellow SA aviators.

We can arrange a weekend at Inhaca Island or Bilene and even 1 night at each place, depending of everyone's input.

I can arrange all CAA and military clearance as well as assistance the all paper work. We can also setup the accommodation and ground transport. If 95 unleaded is required we could possibly make arrangements, however AV is available at Maputo.

This is an open invitation to anyone interested.

Let me know what your thoughts are.

Greetings!

Thank you, this is a great idea, particularly if the paperwork is sorted as I would understand that this is one of the big issues when flying into Moz.

Having someone like yourself to help coordinate the trip would be really nice.

Please keep me updated with developments. I am very interested.

Regards,

John

Hi Mosfly
I fly into Moz often on my Batterler trips.
it is a lot of paper work but worth it .
a nice place to fly out off is Ponto

Hi guys

Good to see some interest in this fly away!

What i should do is make a list of the following:
1.) Requirements for CAA and Military clearance
2.) Cost with regards to customs and immigration fees and airport landing fees

Once you all have an idea of this we can start getting chaps to agree.

Accommodation and fuel costs we can have a look at later once we have a better idea on numbers.

In order for this to happen, we need to agree on a few things:

1.) when??? I believe April is a good period as it's cooling down here and not too much rain fall during this period.

2.) where? I believe we should only stick to either 2 places, Inhaca or Bilene? Maybe we could spend one night in Bilene and another in Inhaca, all depends on you guys.

Please could you let me know your opinions on when and where?

Thanks

Hi Mozfly,

I PM'ed you, and thanks for your responce.

I flew in Southern Moz in Jan 2012 for 3 weeks and it was fantastic. Truly a lifetime experience. I would like to fly to Inhaca Island before May this year, but not just for a weekend. If this can be combined with a group it would be safer and clearances should be simpler. We could maybe all fly out together and then some of us could return earlier or the other way round. Please just shout if I can help with any of the logistics.

Please let me know what has been decided.

Great idea Gavin. (^^) (^^)

hi Mozfly
what type of plane and from where do you fly from in Moz.
A couple of years ago I trailed my trike up to Moz then flew to Pomene ,this way it cuts out the cross boarder flights.

Hi

I live in Matola but my Safari (Bushbaby family) is based at the Maputo airport.

I am not sure about the CAA regulations with regards to trailering trikes and then what type of authority required to get airborne however I will go and see them and get the list of requirements. Did you have any hassles at the boarder post?

I think this fly away can work, however I need some input from yourselves with regards to dates and place.

My suggestion is during May, which gives everyone a chance to spend Easter with the family and then I suggest Bilene as the place due to the accessibility for sending fuel up and for those who want to trailer till there. I'm sure the fixed wing chaps will also be keen to join in, the more the merrier. I am also sure that I can get much better landing fees in Bilene than Inhaca.

I'm busy laying out the requirements and costs on a spreadsheet and should have it through to you guys in a weeks time (work comes first haha)

My email address is gavin at haps dot co dot mz for those who wish to contact me directly

The help I need from you guys to to get the numbers up. If we make this one feasible, I am sure we can generate some benefits from the various officials here.

Cheers
