I'm in for both.
1) In the event I'm not licensed before this time due to weather, time off work, etc.... Will there be a completion for us non licensed solo members of the sky ?......
2) South African champions .... I am willing to be a Marshall.

Chat soon....

Hi Merv,

I'm arriving in SA midday on the 6th of March for my break.
Will be happy to help as Marshall/Sponsor.

We'll talk about the details when I'm home next week.

Cheers

Greeting Mervyn,

Please be so kind as to provide some detail behind the format of these competitions. Otherwise can you point us somewhere where this is laid out?

e.g. 'INTER-SCHOOL STARTERS MASTERS' does not mean much to me, and so would not know what to expect or whether to enter, etc.

Many thanks,

John

Hey John'o,

I participated last year and it was great fun.

If the competition is the same format as last year, the first day consists of two cross country, nav time trials, including visual identification tasks. The second day consists of flying skills tests. Take off distance nominations, spot landings, quickest to climb to a specified altitude, emergency spot landings, precisely timed circuits and the fastest circuit.

Mervyn gives a briefing on the Thursday before the competition and on the Saturday morning the tasks are handed out with many old time helpers to assist the newbies.

The idea is to expose Microlight pilots who have never flown competion before, to the thrills of this type of event and thus to stimulate participation in Microlight competition flying in the future.

This event realy hones your skills and makes you a better, safer pilot. It is great. Come join in the fun. (^^) (^^)
