SANDKLOOF Fly-in

Saturday 4 th August 2012. From 8h00 till late. (If the weather is crap, we move it to the following Saturday 11 August 2012)

Once again an open invitation to all pilots in the Western Cape. (Morningstar, Grootfontein, Welgegund, Phesantekraal, Stellenbosch, Wintervogel, Diemerskraal, Eendekuil and spacialy the pilots from further afield like Robertson,Vredendal, Clanwilliam, Worcester and all other private strip-pilots) 8)
Our first event brought 35 planes to Sandkloof. Last year we had a record 54 planes and 80 people. Let’s start the summer season and better these figures !!
For those who do not know, Sandkloof is approximately 10 miles East of Summersveld (military field), 10 miles North West of Malmesbury. Perfectly situated for a nice trip to the coast .
It is also a perfect occasion for all the student pilots to fit in their compulsory dual or solo cross country trips.
Come and enjoy a hamburger or a boerwors roll and coffee from the HAMBURGER HUT. (^^)
(Same as last year we will have a lucky draw based on the number you get on arrival)

“Hanger talk” is the preferred language! xxx
Radio 124.8
Co-ordinates 33.19’56S 18.36’27 E
Elevation 400’ Length 850m gravel
Runway 32/14 left

With the “Fly safe “ campaign in mind, we urge pilots to adhere to normal unmanned airfield procedures.

Looking forward to seeing you all at our strip!!!

New technology is fine but can also bring bad news.
It seems as if the weather forecast for 4 August 2012 is not good. (cold front with high North Westerlies)

So, as mentioned previously, we postpone to 11 AUGUST 2012

Hi Ouman
The weather forecast for the week-end doesn't look good. Lots of rain/wind.

Well…..what can I say. It seems as if our annual fly in at Sandkloof is of the charts. :(> :(> :(>
Forecast for Saterday 11 August 2012 seems to be heavy rain and LOTS of STRONG Northerlies.
This previous Saturday (4 August) was also no good due to fog and low cloud base (200’)the whole day.

From now until late October you don’t want to be on the ground at Sandkloof (the miggies are really a nuisance). ## Later in the year you cannot predict the South Easterlies. (**)
So…we are back to the drawing boards for July/August next year.
BUT for those of you who would like to pay us a visit, give any of us a call to give you the stand of the weather and do your thing. (^^)
    Will however check on the forecast and give a final notice by Thursday 9 August.

Definitely NO way that we will have our Fly-in coming Saturday 11 August .
Can’t remember when last did they predict such a strong (severe) front for the Cape.
Expected North Westerly’s of 20 knots gusting 40. (**)
We will have to sit it out until next time!!

Jammer manne,
Sandkloof se dae is verby. (en daarmee saam my eie vlerke en my drome). Eienaar het plaas verkoop en die nuwe eienaar is nie "vlieg vriendelik " nie.
Tans ly ek aan totale, onherstelbare, ontrekking!

Kyk nog steeds op as ek 'n Rotax erens hoor verby gaan :(
