HOW TO FLY THE CIRCUIT AT PANORAMA AIRFIELD

·          APPROACHING THE CIRCUIT
When approaching the airfield and you want to join the circuit, call your position and intentions from at least five miles out on the current QNH.
PLEASE NOTE FIXED WING CIRCUIT IS AT 6050 ft & WEIGHT SHIFT AT 5550 ft
(Hint: talk to other pilots in the circuit to establish which runway is in use or simply listen out)

·          APPROACH FROM THE NORTH
The approach from the North , THIS IS NOT RECOMMENDED AS PANORAMA IS AT THE EDGE OF THE HGFA SO THE BEST WOULD BE
TO OVER FLY AT 6300 ft AND ESTABLISH RUNWAY IN USE AND THEN JOIN CIRCUIT REMEMBER TO CALL 5 miles OUT
·          APPROACH FROM THE WEST
When approaching from the West, Be sure to call 5 miles out use normal joining procedure, Remember join at 6300 ft

·          APPROACH FROM THE EAST
When approaching from the East, SAME AS FROM THE NORTH AND EXERCISE CAUTION.!

·          APPROACH FROM THE SOUTH
When approaching from the South, Be sure to call 5 miles out use normal joining procedure, Remember join at 6300 ft

BASIC RULES OF THE AIRFIELD
·          All aircraft are to line up for take off at the threshold of the active runway….do not initiate your take off run from mid field
·          No formation flying allowed within 5 miles of the circuit REMEMBER WE ARE IN A GENERAL FLYING AREA WHICH IS FOR TRAINING!
·          No aerobatics allowed.
·          Approach the circuit at 6300 ft
·          All fix wing aircraft to use left circuit for 01 and right circuit for 19
·          All fix wing aircraft must be at circuit height of 6050 ft on down wind
·          All trikes will do right circuit 01 and right circuit 19
·          All trikes must be at a circuit height of 5550 ft on down wind.
·          The earliest time for take off is 15 minutes before sunrise
·          The latest time to land is 15 minutes after sunset
·          Any incident on the airfield or within its circuit must be reported within 12 hours to the Safety officer
·          Unless the circuit is extremely busy, keep radio calls down to a minimum…downwind call and a call for turning final approach is sufficient
·          If operating within our circuit, always start your call with “Panorama Traffic”
·          When approaching the circuit, start your call with “Traffic in the Panorama area”
·          The safety officer may at any time add to these rules as he sees fit.

WARNING THIS AREA IS THE "HELICOPTER GENERAL FLYING AREA" SO KEEP A GOOD LOOK OUT FOR HELICOPTERS
AND REMEMBER THEY ARE TRAINING SO MANY OF THEM WILL BE STUDENTS!!

Just a reminder and update re the Panorama Oktoberfest Fly In and Open Day on the 15th — All welcome!

The Harvard Club will have a plane there all day, offering flips — same spot as last year.
Its the Rugby WC semi-finals at 10am on the 15th -- so we will also have a TV on for that.

Food and drink available all day (and night).

There has been some interest re sleeping over at the field. Please let me know if this is likely, so I can arrange some showers.

Looking forward to seeing everyone.

Thanks, Helga

Hi All,

(^^) Looking forward to this one! Are there any special eventsbeing arranged or is it just a fly in and visit? (^^) What is the turn out like and will there be someone manning an ATC?

Hi All
below a link to avcom for more info.

There will not be ATC so use unmanned procedures

PM me if you need more info.

The plan is for a whole day event so 3 meals will be catered for.
Lots of music and some liquid refreshment as well.

I went for breakfast and ended up staying for supper. It was a very enjoyable day. Met up with old friends and made a bunch of new friends.

Thank you Helga and team.

Maybe it was an Avcom event. No time for the low life 'currie munchers (samoosas)' with 'checkers packet "pilots" who are actually the "road taxis" of the sky'.

Or else perhaps the Rhino okes had there camaras on the wrong frequency.
