I had a look at two met-data websites: freemeteo.com as well as yr.no. They use different mathematical models to predict weather. Unfortunately SAweather has become totally useless for us slow and low flyers.![]()
![]()
Freemeteo.com expects Saturday to be fairly windy in Pretoria, WNW @ 10Knts. Day temperature about 15 degrees and partly cloudy. Nylstroom is expected to be much better with the Wind WSW @ 5Knts and max temp 19 degrees, no cloud. For Sunday they expect wind of about 7Knts NE and temp 15 degrees partly cloudy in Pretoria and wind about NE @ 7Knts and temp 17 degrees in sunshine at Nylstroom. (Max values)
YR.NO expects even better flying weather for the weekend with the wind Saturday morning in Pretoria WNW @ 2Knts and afternoon WNW @ 11Knts and max temp 17 degrees and sunny skies. For Nylstroom they expect a wind of NW @ 4Knts in the morning tuning SW @4Knts in the afternoon on Saturday. Sunshine all day with max 19 degrees and night temp 8 to 10 degrees around the braai fire. On Sunday they expect a wind SW @ 4 Knts and sunshine with max temp at 19 degrees for us to depart in and we can land in Pretoria expecting 7Knts ENE.
Not too bad, better in Nylstroom, as always. Rather chilly in the evening, so bring something hot![]()
The two expectations are more or less the same, predicted in worlds apart, so they should not be too far off. Bring sun block and hat.
Be careful of fog early morning if the wind is calm. Wind from east always brings in moisture.![]()
Be aware of carb ice in OAT's of around 20 degrees. The carburettor temp is often about 20 degrees lower than ambient, at certain settings, like on the decent to Nylstroom and about two million other aircraft going the same way and clogging the RT frequency and us forgetting about ice forming between plus 4 degrees and minus 2 degrees!![]()
Fly safe people and FOCUS. it's going to be great!
Jaaaa, pasop wat jy vra!!Goose wrote:Helllllll gelukkig het ek nie vir n voledige weer verslag gevra nie
Stefan windguru is really good. It predicts the same for the weekendKFA wrote:This one is very accurate, I use it every day
Sorry AVGAS, we have to open the door to fly out. Sien jou Saterdagavgas wrote:If you okes in gauteng can close those fridges it will be better here for us. It was cold today I even had to put on a short sleeve jacket
