Baie dankie Francois en Landy , ons het die aand baie geniet. Julle het n pragtige oord , en sal ons verseker in die toekoms daar sien. Hopelik sal ek volgende keer in vlieg.

Morning guys (**)

What a weekend...

4am - Arthur(my friend, neighbour) and I departed Roodekrans to be at the airfield by 5am.Got there, preflight, loaded fuel, made sure we have everything we need..packed and ready to depart...
6am - Still sitting waiting for the mist to pi$$ off..
7am - Got airborne,wow..the wind is worse at 5500 upwards then on the ground...and worse it was blowing in the opposite direction of my track. Now I am crawling at 35mph ground speed...turned with the wind at hit a 105mph ground speed..at only 55mph airspeed.

After doing this exercise couple of time I tried routing Baps way when we got caught in rain..ja,now we are wet..so I decided to turn back and wait it out.

Checked I had a missed call from Paul..thanx Paul and Asteriks, your advice really helped and it really was not worth putting myself and my pax through so much k@k to get there.

After a lekka breakie and lotsa of coffee..I ended up passing out on our nice soft couch..lol..Arthur,I'm not sure what he got upto all the time as he was still pumped from the first flight..lol

At 4pm,we were still at the airfield..it was now drizzling and windy..16h45,the wind died and the drizzle persists...5pm everything is awesome..no wind,no rain.

So I told Arthur, let us go fly,we will head South towards the Vaal coz it is clear that side..look like k@k the opposite side.

So we flew for an hour and a half,Artie really enjoyed himself and his quite keen to fly with me again...he really enjoys my landing..lol..I made it exciting for him with the low levels over the runway, popping up after gaining 70mph airspeed..lol..two of those and his tummy said enough thanx ##

Perhaps we could still do Sibaka..I still would love to do the trip..from Circus I think is it best to go Baps way around as there are many more airfields on route, which is alot more comforting vhpy Plus you dont have to cross over the Magalies....

Have an awesome day people..I would like to fly to Microland this weekend...let me know if you guys are flying..

Shweet!!!

:x man

A big thank you from me and Landy to everybody who made the trip out to us this weekend
In total we were:

8 microlights
1 streak shadow (space capsule)
1 Savannah
1 Cessna

Okay let’s start at the beginning

I was watching Bugwar & Asteriks progress on the GPS link Paul sent me on Friday afternoon and saw they were close to Pienaars rivier so I went did my pre flights, I heard them calling Sibaka ground control but couldn’t reach them on my handheld so I thought they were still a couple of miles out and took off. Just airborne I heard “daar styg hy nou net op” and as I turned towards Pienaars rivier I saw them about 4nm out .Did a long circuit and fell into the no 3 position giving me at least some air time.

Landed and it was good to see old faces again, we hang around the hanger for a while and then went to Raptors Pub for some cold ones.

Saturday morning I went and picked up James, Paul and Dylan we were going to fly to Koedoeskop and over Paul’s farm then follow the Crocodile river till we hear inbound traffic for Sibaka then race back to secure our hangar space.

There was no wind and just some high cloud so we took off and it was rocking and rolling up to about 5500ft there it was lekker and once past the mountains at Koedoes kop it was as smooth as it can get. Flew around area and went to have a look at Paul’s building work when we heard CCM (Hugo and Reuben) from Kroon and we decided to head back to Ntokozo.

Hugo confirmed that they were the only once that’s flying at Kroon and that weather was not ideal but they were on their way.

Also heard a familiar voice heading out towards Rust de Winter dam it was Oom Paul aka the legends Blue Max inbound to Ntokozo.

We just left Koedoes kop and the tumble dryer went on again all the way to Ntokozo. Paul was no1 leaving me at no2 and James at no3 to land. Doing my morning work out on the control bar on long finals I heard “going around” and not thinking it through I thought “ag nee nou moet e kook weer om gaan “when James said “Francois jy kan maar gaan land” what a relief. I went in for the landing and aced it

Once on the ground and all 3 trikes parked in the hangar we heard CCM 3nm miles out and we advised him to land on 34 as the wind changed. This means clearing the power lines and landing on a slight downhill but 600m is more than long enough and he had a smooth landing.

Next inline was Pieter Penz in his Aquilla and his son in the Space Capsule (Streak shadow) both of them also nailing the landings.

Now we were just waiting for the one and only Blue Max who showed us what he was made off by doing a perfect landing

All there we headed for the Sibaka camp to get some coffee and breakfast.

While having breakie Willie in his Cessna, Rudolph in the Savannah and two more trikes arrived – Jaco and Marcell from Brits

After Breakfast Hugo and Reuben headed back towards Kroon and Peter and son to Rust de winter dam

Bonzai Bell aka Swanie wanted to fly in with his Gyro but bad weather on his side kept him on the ground but in the spirit of a true aviator enthusiast he drove in from Springs.

Saturday was spent around Raptors Pub with just Oom Paul committed to doing an afternoon flight.

The Bosperaad on Saturday evening was all of 5 minutes long with the route already planned, accommodation sorted all that was left was to decide who will buy the first round at Ezulweni and it was - Oom Paul

Bugwar gave a good idea for a an flying event so as soon as all is worked out it will be mad public

Sunday morning was a lekker day for flying and everybody headed back home.

I have decided to appoint Bugwar as my events coordinator and all future events I will leave in his hands thank again for organizing the fly in.

To Apha and Madman it was a pity thing didn’t work out for you guys but your deposits are still here and you are more than welcome to fly in anytime.
