Hi Airhog, yes we can change them to end April, begining May but we need two weeks. So the new dates would have to be 25th April 2015 until the 10th May 2015. If that suits most, then we change it?

Ok, Nico. Met jou vlieg en Botswana ondervinding sal dit vantasties wees as jy saam kom. (^^) (^^) In Mei behoort die panne droog te wees? I hope Alan Pepper is reading this thread. He has organised a few of these trips. Alan!!, bring that new SkyJeep of yours and join us.

Tumbleweed wrote:The Bostwana Airshow oganisers are planning to host their airshow early May next year. A good jol and might get you the NTCA permit waiver of R1 200.00.
Hi Piet & Tumbleweed, we would realy like to include the Botswana Airshow in our flight plan but the problem is our trip is only two weeks long and is in the northern parts of Bostwana. Also, most of the aeries are quite slow, meaning that an additional 200 or 300 miles (one way) takes a couple of days to include. If next years show is again at Matsieng airfield, which is just north Gaborone, it means an additional round trip of 500 miles of flying. When we know where and when the show will take place, we can see if we can include it in the plan.

After a lenthy discussion with Ninnie from Auto-Gyro, who organises these trips regularly for gyro's, I realised that we must make the trip as attractive as possible to all in the party. The flying will be the main focus but we want to include other events and outings, like a candle lit dinner in the bush, a boat cruise / supper on the Chobe river, game drives, a day trip to Vic Falls, bungee jumping???? etc. This will capture the interest of everyone in the group. It pushes up the cost, but well worth it. So, if you are in, start saving. vhpy

I will be at Elephant Sands and Chobe at the end of August and will discuss our plans with them. vhpy vhpy

Just make sure of the distances. Elephant Sands with it's unique setting around the drinking hole is a must, but it is only 50 km odd north of Nata. To use that as a base to savuti, chobe means a direct flight of between 120 - 150 NM ( 240-300 nm return) over rather uniform flat landscape.

I agree that is a bit far, especially in a trike. We have to include Kasane/Chobe though. Maybe we bite the bullet (cost wise) and use Kasane Airport as a base for that part. Will work on a do-able plan.

I will contact Ben Van Zyl, Kalahari Flying Club chairman (Bots AeroClub?) for some advice as well. vhpy
