Re: Microland to Barberton Fly-away 2015
Hi Guys,
The Supa hero Johan from ALZU Petroport just about 20km from Middelburg made us a 800m long and 18m wide gravel runway. This is a nice place to stop for a lekker Brekkie, excellent koffie and fresh Fuel. The view out of the toilets is the best so you wont have to use the grass.
We will post the runway details soon.
Check out the link: http://www.alzu.co.za/alzuPetroport.html
Coordinates: -25.832488, 29.790174
I've sent the details on to Mervyn.

Re: Microland to Barberton Fly-away 2015
Can this Alzu airstrip be used anytime or does special permission need to be granted beforehand? The idea of a place where one can grab fuel and breakfast on the way to Nelspruit area has huge appeal.

Re: Microland to Barberton Fly-away 2015
Thank You Albun for the awsome picture
Guys this is a Private airstrip until we get everything sorted. We will arrange one big Breakfast fly inn soon for everyone.
For now we must just get permission from the BIG BOSS
OR preferably there is a "What's Up" group specific and restricted to the ALZU runway.(In other words no chit chat group)
Just send me your name & number and I will add you.
SMS your name, aircraft type, registration and ETA to Myself or the "whats up" group.
There is a no fly zone right next to the runway. See PDF drawing for details. PLEASE DON'T FLY OVER THE ANIMALS (Game Farm)

Re: Microland to Barberton Fly-away 2015
Hey guys to all those who attended this epic fly-away ,a big thank you. There is nothing better then great company of fellow pilots in the most beautiful parts of our country.
To Brian Young, Pyramid is just getting better and better. Thanks for accommodating all of us. You always were and will always be a great host.
Merv, your planning, attention to detail and constant consideration for the safety of all pilots involved in this trip has to be highly commended. thanks my boet.
To all the students and novices that came with, you have braved some challenging weather specially on the way back with a 21knt northerly wind at 12h00. To Shaun and Steve well done boys. Experience and exposure like this is worth more then any amount of flying around the airfield.
Massimo and his GT, testing the wind levels ensured for the fastest and the smoothest ride and Gavin our ATC radio liaison always ensuring we didn't go in blind.
thanks boys!!!!!
