Morning everyone,
I cut and paste what I wrote on Avcom. We would really like you guys to be there.
Last evening we had our final meeting prior to this event scheduled for this Saturday. Last years event was a real winner and we all believe keeping the "fun" and camaraderie on par with that we had then is definitely possible - but it includes YOU guys. The Kitty Hawkers and visiting aircraft from as far afield as (where do stay cvh and you CC) helped make the day the success it was - so PLEASE come and visit us once again.
I want to stress - this event is not a competition. There is no programme. It is not on any calendar and the event was conceived by the committee who wanted our Kitty Hawk residents to come to the airfield, open the doors, wash their aircraft, pump the tyres, wash the aeries, do the little niggly jobs in the hangar and also fly. And then it grew to what it is now - it involves all aviators from far and wide to come to Kitty Hawk for interaction, speak aviation, laugh and meet old faces, all over a plate of our famous grub - which brings me to the breakfast.
The Clubhouse will be open from 07H00 for coffee. Microloghters - please come and join us.
Breakfast (Buffet) will be served from 08H30. (R45-)
Breakfasts will be served until 11H00 but at 10H00 Boerewors rolls will be served and other light dishes.
Regrettably, the Harley guys cannot make it but probably in keeping with custom, we'll have many motor cyclists there who frequent the club in any case on a Saturday morning.
The Radio Model guys who were such wonderful participants last year with their huge models will also be there. Thety will be arriving at 10H00. Please Radio model guys - we'd like you to have a safety briefing at 11H00 with Nigel Musgrave. So Christo - please be there with your lads for the briefing.
Velocity will be jumping from one of our locals Robbie R44 at about 10H30 - thanks Velocity for your efforts to make this happen (and thanks Uncle Agent for this prompt - how this slipped through the cracks I dunno?).
Airmanship/Safety:
Please call Kitty Hawk on 120.65Mhz when 5nms out and prepare for the unmanned airfield joining procedure. (Johnny de Jager will be in the "tower"). Unless otherwise advised, join overhead on (non standard) 6100' on the dead side and then fly your circuit. Johnny is there to help you so don't be concerned. If there is no one but yourself at the time in the circuit/vicinity - Johnny will process you to get on the ground quickly yet safely. Follow the marshallers who will be wearing high viz vests and will be easily identifiable with dayglo coloured bats to get you to the designated parking area.
ALL circuits are to the EAST of FAKT. RH circuits for 01 and LH circuits for 19.
Airfield elevation is 4580'
Avgas is available. There are no landing fees at FAKT.
ALWAYS be aware when taxing and starting - propwash; we do not want to blast those having breakfast with grass and dust.
The Harvard from the Harvard Club (Laurie Kay) will be there too for those who want to have a flip in a Spammy.
There are well known aviation personalties resident at FAKT. They practise - a lot! I have encouraged them not to stop practising just because we have this "Day at the Airport". They will be there too and Glen may practise in his new Red Bull Slick. Bertus du Preez is also well known on the SAC circuit and he too is likely to practice. Neville Ferreira has a very nice Yak - he too flies a great deal and so the list is endless. Jan Troskie is going to be there with one of his Ravins - . . . .hey - come and join us - there is much to talk about, see and enjoy.
Photographers - please come and join us too. May I ask you to please help us by wearing your vests too? Lastly - speak to Nigel Musgrave about safety aspects. In no way do we wish to limit you but I teach my grandmother to suck eggs here - we need to be safe and responsible at all times.
Weather
With 80% confidence, SAWS forecast partly cloudy with rain. 30% chance of 1mm of rain. Wind NW @ 8 kts. Temp 32 degrees.
General
For the kids - a jumping Castle.
For the Dads - there will be vendors present for your radio, avionics and instrument needs too. We have all sizes of Kitty Hawk Golf Shirts too - we have reduced the price to R179.99 for the day. However, any donation to round off the tally to R200 will be gratefully accepted.
For those coming by car - please listen to the traffic marshallers - there is limited parking at the Clubhouse. Once that is full we'll request you to park in a designated area which will be marked "Public Parking". NO parking in amongst the hangars - the aircraft owners must be able to operate unhindered.
The day ends (like last year) VERY late in the day.
We look forward to seeing all of you.
Best Wishes
Horace

The weather certainly did not deter everyone from having a great time and a splendid breakfast ... a BIG thank you to all organisers involved! The 2010 date is already diarised for the next event!
