Hope you guys from JHB are transponder equipped... I'm not..

I see the copies are not too good, basically 50NM radius from JHB VOR is restricted for the Confederation Cup ... File a flight plan 24 hrs before, thats fine, but then... be transponder equipped... Unless you are up at FL460... I see a similar restriction around Rustenburg as well.

Anone want my accom booking ? 2 rooms.

Ok before everybody goes into a huge panic - All you do is get permission from the SAAF - then file a flight plan and you can fly. They allow microlights with no transponder. Colonel Elma de Villiers whom we dealt with the previous time has already confirmed that the same will apply and that they are in the porcess of launching a website where you could do it electronically. Hopefully it will be done beforethe time arrives. If not you can simply supply her with the aircraft detail - pilot and pax with ID numbers and where and to you are flying. In the mean time join file2fly so long so you can submit and cancel your flight plans electronically (much easier than any other way).

So far to the best of my knowledge from Microland are Lionel in Bushbaby flying down on Friday returning Tuesday, Joe Terblanche getting there before Friday and returning Sunday, and the 'K's flying down Saturday returning Tuesday.

With pre-arrangement, AVGAS will be made available, plenty MOGAS too.

The "Follow me" tours are definitely on. Usual spot-landings etc too.
Note this is a dedicated fly-in with no non-aviation related activities (bike/horse races etc) like in the past .

Aviation specific questions gladly answered - call me - I'm one of the committee members for this do.

Rudi - hope that means RV 7 is coming?
Keen to see her in the metal.

Trying to get a stack of Jabbi guys in too.

Vryheid gliding club down the road is keen to bring 2 gliders and 2 winches for those who want to try soaring - a must try - at least once!

RWY conditions are perfect. A total of 50mm rain has fallen, but RWY is sand over sandstone, sloped and cambered so no drainage probs. The loop at bottom of 11 can get wet, but only after a week of heavy rain. I will drive the rwy tomorrow morning and report if any reason for concern, failing which, assume all ok.
