Firstly, the property does belong to the mun. I have been flying here since 1989 and we have tried to communicate with the mun. on numerous times, had meetings and requesting some sort of lease contract . they simply are not interested in the land as it holds no value to them and I think therefore they have not bothered to do so. It is on a wetland as well and there will be no development there, ever. The property development next door has gone bang the last 2 times it was re-developed due to the flooding.. we have a hangers association registered under Art 21. and have opposed previous development with success and won the cases. If you know the airfield you will notice that there is no chance of the airfield been invaded by vagrants, as again, there is nothing , no shops or throughway. and is to far from town.
If the mun. ever try to grab the place it will probably face the "ownership by aging of property ownership "law, or such. Or die "Plakkers Reg "

Well there is simply no more space, and the area where you could build has red list protected flora, trees on it.
So nobody is going to put a bulldozer in there without a big fight by the local bunny huggers
